I think Apple didn't really know what to do with the Iphone - the industry went huge-screen and Jobs said 3,5 inch is the only proper way so they didn't know what to do and went for something in between which is neighter what Jobs wanted, nor what most people will really appreciate because for huge-screen lovers 4inch is laughable.
That leaves the "retina display" with a strange (new one to support) resolution and lower pixel density. I don't understand why couldn't they go with a more typical resolution, for example 720P. Now there's no content for their new resolution yet.

Yeah, and it sounds like the screen size is the biggest change. We don't know if the processor is an old-gen dual core or an old gen quad-core.
I like the fact that it's lighter and slimmer though but 7.5mm with only a relatively small form factor we know that the battery will be pretty weak though.

There's never been so much "new Iphone is so disappointing" hype, even with Iphone 4S.

Even huge gsm websites are bashing it:

I’m more than sure that somebody in South Korea is having a big party right now. More than anything, it feels like this year’s iPhone is Apple skipping a turn a second year in a row all the while Android and Windows Phone have been seriously upping their game moves.
That's what I though - guys at Samsung must be really happy. They have their SGS3 selling really well for the past couple of months and I don't think Iphone 5 is going to hurt its sales - mostly previous Iphone owners will buy it, some will probably switch to SGS3.
Plus.. I think Samsung are already thinking on the SGS4.

I honestly thought that by this point in 2012, the iPod would have been killed off. You don't even need a smart phone to have a music player on your phone, but even then, smartphones are over half of the phones on people's carrier contracts. Why is this thing still alive?

I guess I still use the iPod Touch I have in my car and when working out. I'm still not that comfortable using Android's music player and putting music on my SD or internal memory on my phone. But few others should have the same problems I do.

I wanna see who the fuck buys one that also owns a smartphone. I got my iPod Touch back in my LG EnV days. So I still have an excuse.

Even though Apple really was propped up by Jobs' ideas and all, I figured he had enough groundwork laid down for the future that his impact would still be evident in the iPhone 6. Or whatever comes after the 5. Same with the iPad and even a few Macs. I felt he had so much time during his last few days to plan, and that his employees revered him so much, that his plans would be carried out for another year or two, giving current designers time to come up with something new, yet still fluid with past devices.

I have an older nano I use when working out. Running with a phone in your pocket sucks.

Ah, maybe running adds a different aspect to it all. I usually do the elliptical or treadmill, and so there's a spot to toss my keys, phone, iPod and towel all in it. I guess running outdoors, you don't have that luxury.

I think it's good to have a separate mp3 player when you're working out or taking a jog. Something small and compact that gives you maneuverability (couldn't imagine doing that with my SG3 in a pocket) - also no reason to bring your phone onto the equipment floor, it's a distraction. So, there are still good reasons to have one.

I think my phone could last a whole day of playing music. I stopped using a separate mp3 player with the first phone that had a real mp3 player built-in which was probably about 7 years ago. I don't like having to carry extra devices.

I never listen to music on my phone or ipod.

I have a car with a stereo. I have a computer at my desk plugged into decent speakers. I have a stereo at home. I don't go to the gym.

I don't think the S3 has an extended battery or anything. Not that my battery life is bad but if there was something that made it last for a really long haul, that would be nice. Otherwise I get 18 hours of use from this thing. I do have ridiculous profiles set on SetCPU for screen off and during calls and such. That helps a ton.

I get 48 hours, and don't slow it down at all. Are you talking continuous use? As I use mine randomly.

Anyways.... Upgrade your 4S to a 5 here - http://www.redmondpie.com/this-sticker-will-turn-your-iphone-4s-4-into-an-iphone-5-well-sort-of/

I use mine a good bit, even though I am working from 9-5 or so, I still check my phone for scores, I message people using Messaging and Whatsapp and Facebook. I check the weather about four times a day, so syncing there might use some battery.

I have about an hour on the road combined, to and from work, where I have to use 3G, otherwise at the clinic I use WiFi, although sometimes I pull my phone out my pocket and it's on 3G, not WiFi, and picks up WiFi after ten seconds or so of use. Weird.

Sprint coverage in my area sucks dick, at least for data. Voice is decent. I wish Sprint had an app like Verizon did for checking how much data you used on your current billing cycle, minutes, etc. If I have to check, I have to take time to call a number for minutes or create a Sprint account and log in there. Haven't done the latter, don't have time for the former.

Get on your shit, Sprint. You have one for iOS.
