So all that I have read about Apple stopping the sale in Germany, is bull shit?
Well all i know is samsung pushed back the release date a couple of times until i was tired of it. Then i ordered mine from england. I heard they (amazon, etc.) started selling them here as well this week.

They can sell the already shipped Tabs 10.1. They just can't ship new ones till the case is closed:
http://www.gsmarena.com/german_court_blocks_shipping_of_galaxy_tab_101_in_europe-news-2979.php

Also they can still ship them to the Netherlands :)

Here there are a few Internet auctions and shops selling them for almost a 1000$ and people are buying them all out instantly. Especially the white version.

In comparison Apple are shipping only a few Ipads/month to Poland and they have trouble selling them.

Justified or not, if something is illegal and the person being infringed upon decides to take action, by all means.

At this rate, people caught red-handed infringing upon copyrights will ask "is it justified?" and use that excuse to continue to do what they were doing before.

I'm not paying attention to the legal crap behind this stuff. Everyone is suing everyone. I can't wait to hear Lodsys's case.

What I meant was... Are they copying Apple? Is Apple copying previous incarnations of tablets from 10 years ago?

As far as I can see... The xoom and the Tab look like tablets, and don't take their styling from the ipad. It's just a tablet.

I'm sure the parts Apple thinks others are copying from them are not external, but rather internals. Whether it be a certain type of architecture or program or software, there's no way for me to tell since I don't really know too much about that kinda stuff.

Last I read it has physically nothing to do with the product. It's such stupid broad shit like using your finger as a pointer device and other retarded things. Apple is just taking advantage of a skewed patent system. People have been calling for reform for quite a while and Apple could very well be shooting themselves in the foot by being some bitches.

If I had to shoot myself in the foot to become the world's most valuable, profitable company, I'd Christopher Reeves myself in a heartbeat.

Fuck the money, this guy basically did this himself. It's about the sense of success of getting a company like what Apple was around the 2000s, prior to the iPod and to what it is now.

Surely we are not angry at Mr. Jobs and his group of lawyers that helped secure company ideas were not stolen, right? I don't mean to speak ill of Android when I say this, but this isn't Android and this "open" nonsense everyone's praising. These are trade secrets that every company fights to protect. This is the benefit Apple has for grabbing the bull by the horns and releasing the iPhone in 2007. Almost a year and a half before Android.

Whether Android/Google would have done the same thing is another story. Apple is not Google. Nor is it Microsoft nor Nokia. We've seen what happens when a company starts resting on its laurels and doesn't compete (RIM and Nokia). These patents and other legal issues are what makes companies "compete."

I was trying to wait for the android casey suggested, but bc it's not out yet, and there is no release date, i settled on the Photon 4G with Sprint. It's a good phone and im very pleased with it so far. MUCH better than my blackberry, but that's expected since my blackberry was 2 years old.

But Apple use components made mainly by Samsung and LG.

Thought i'd just post this here since the majority of modern HTC phones run Android:

http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/10/htc-to-buy-a-chunk-of-beats-electronics-keep-dr-dre-in-a-lab-w/

HTC's been making money hand over fist lately, and it looks like all that cash is burning a hole in its pocket. First, the Taiwanese company bought cloud services firm Dashwire and now it's looking to buy the lion's share of Beats Electronics. For a cool $300 million, HTC plans to up the ante in mobile audio with the expertise of Dr. Dre baked into its future handsets. The deal is set to become final later this year, and we'll see phones packing the big red 'b' this autumn. Feel free to peep the PR while you wait for 'em to drop.

Yes. I didn't mean hardware that others made. I don't know what patents were violated and to what extent someone can "patent" something, but what I meant by "architecture" I meant the build of the iPad or iPhone. The design. Not just how it looks on the outside, but the way components are arranged inside. Like not keeping the GPU, which can get quite hot, next to something that is sensitive to heat. I don't know if you can patent the arrangement, but I'm guessing it's something along those lines, but much more complicated.

Apple writes software as well and shares it with others. If any of that code is used...anywhere... they have to right to take action if it was used in a way that was not intended or disclosed to Apple.

Sounds like desperation from Apple to me.

If they were suing Ssamsung for Touchwiz, then I'd understand. Before I installed Vanilla Android on my phone, it did look like an iphone.

Well, CPU and GPU is one module in mobile phones and tablets. Also Apple tends to use different hardware - Tab 10.1 is Tegra 2-based, while the Ipad2 uses an older solution.
The Ipad looks just like any other tablet, same with Galaxy Tab or anything else.

The problem is that really they usually sue for retarded things. Motorola cannot sue the shit out of everyone because it patented a mobile phone but it would be too ridiculous but Apple can sue because 'this device uses your finger as a controller like in our device!' or "they have an application store like we do!" crap. So another problem is that these cases are usually conducted by total noobs.

Apple came up with these slim devices. I am pretty sure that they will now take advantage of them being slightly faster and sue the shit out of everybody else for having a slim form factor.
I believe that all of those patent cases are only a new strategy to make Apple look innovative - make it seem like everyone copies their 'technologies'.
I would love to see other companies starting to sue Apple now too.
