I'm not conceited but I do have pride since I consider basketball to be the best sport in the world for me personally. I can't particularly articulate an argument why there's something wrong with this thread, but I do feel there is. You're doing it the opposite. First you become a fan of playing the game. Then, you become a fan of watching the game. Then, you become a fan of finding other ways to interact with the game (ie. NBA Fantasy League). You're doing it the opposite. I don't know why, but it irks me. You're not paying respect to the sport, you're seeing it as another one of your multiple hobbies. But not even that, it's still not a hobby because the hobby is the fantasy league, not the sport per se. Anyway, my post was meant to be exaggerated because that's how I like to convey my points at times and I feel that it adds some humor for the outsiders (ie Sebastian).
Also, basketball is the most popular sport in quite a few European countries. Usually, it's because they're good at it. Basketball isn't popular in your country because it sucks, it's not popular because you English can't play basketball.
Cricket is popular in the UK and mostly in the Indian subcontinent, and because those people multiply like flies, you have an argument that it's popular. But cricket is such a foreign thing to me and everyone I know that it's not even funny. Still, I know, the world doesn't revolve around me and neither does around you, but if I wanted a hobby, I'd pick up playing cricket and then get interested in the best leagues and down the road, join a fantasy league...because that's how it's fucking done.
