It isn't the truth Jurhum, it's what you believe. You need to look up the meaning of the word truth.
Yes, I'm aware that my point of view can not decisively be considered "the truth" either, but let me put it like this.
Using all of the reasoning, logic, intelligent rationalization, all of the methods that we, as humans, use to define whether ANYTHING is true or false, my belief (Atheism) is MORE true than yours. You can argue about personal beliefs etc etc etc until you are blue in the face, but that statement holds, it is a fact.
Now, if I asked you if it was TRUE that unicorns exist and they walk this planet, you would say "No. That is not true. That is not true because I've never seen one. I've never seen any proof or evidence for them".
That is the logic one would use.
If I said to you "Is it TRUE that magic rainbow colored invisible frogs with 5 legs hop around on this planet, granting people wishes and listening to their thoughts?" you would say "No. That is not true. I have never seen one and I have never seen any proof that they exist."
However, if I asked you "Do you believe that there is an omnipotent god that created this planet and everything on it, he knows all your thoughts, controls everything, etc, etc". You would say yes, because you believe that.
But you've never seen him. You don't have any evidence to suggest that he exists. Using the exact some logical arguments that you would make for the non existence of unicorns and magic invisible frogs, you claim there is a god. That's complete hypocrisy. It doesn't make any kind of logical sense.
Barely anything written in any holy book has any relevance in modern society, and the things that do are just plain common sense. As Chronic said before, any reasonably intelligent person could have come along and given the moral guidance that jesus (for example) gave in the bible. It's simple compassion and logic. If I lived 2000 years ago in that area of the world, I could have been jesus. If i lived in whatever age mohammad lived in in that part of the world, I could have been mohammad. These people were nothing more than good motivational and moral speakers with great people skills. Nothing more and nothing less.
people want to lift people up and make them out to be more than what they were. to try and convince people they make up all this mythology and mystical bullshit.
this phenomenon still exists, the scientologists are a prime example of that.
