I don't believe because it's not?
as much as i used to get into discussions about things here on street hop, I've noticed the need to keep my answers as short and precise as possible.

I just answered the OP question. Whatever anyone believes or doesn't believe, doesn't really matter. Your personal beliefs are yours. I just hate how some try to push down the atheist point of view on these forums every chance they get. It's sickening and saddening.

I'm not one of those atheist who thinks "god doesn't exist and all people who believe in god are complete idiots"

Honestly.. my opinion of god is this.. I don't care. I don't care. I don't care.

Seriously, If he does or doesn't exist I don't care.

I'm going to live my life how I want to live it because all i know is the here and now. I don't know if i'll be here tomorrow, so I'm going to make sure I enjoy today.

I'm a good person because it's how I want to live my life. Not because I want a reward at the end of my life or because I live in constant fear of some unknown entity watching me.

So if i'm right and there's no god then I can die knowing a lived a compassionate lifestyle to both humans and animals and that's important to ME. And if i'm wrong and there is a god... then I still lived a compassionate lifestyle to both humans and animals and if he can't respect the fact that there wasn't enough proof that he existed for me to believe in him.. then FUCK HIM.

You see, this is exactly what i meant. stupid little kids have infested these forums and pretend to know everything. go chew on a tampon or something.
I fail to see how someone like dilla or bacho gets banned for lowering the iq of the board yet this fucko is still around.

And are we seriously having this debate again? Find something better to do with your time people.

It isn't the truth Jurhum, it's what you believe. You need to look up the meaning of the word truth.

Yes, I'm aware that my point of view can not decisively be considered "the truth" either, but let me put it like this.

Using all of the reasoning, logic, intelligent rationalization, all of the methods that we, as humans, use to define whether ANYTHING is true or false, my belief (Atheism) is MORE true than yours. You can argue about personal beliefs etc etc etc until you are blue in the face, but that statement holds, it is a fact.

Now, if I asked you if it was TRUE that unicorns exist and they walk this planet, you would say "No. That is not true. That is not true because I've never seen one. I've never seen any proof or evidence for them".

That is the logic one would use.

If I said to you "Is it TRUE that magic rainbow colored invisible frogs with 5 legs hop around on this planet, granting people wishes and listening to their thoughts?" you would say "No. That is not true. I have never seen one and I have never seen any proof that they exist."

However, if I asked you "Do you believe that there is an omnipotent god that created this planet and everything on it, he knows all your thoughts, controls everything, etc, etc". You would say yes, because you believe that.

But you've never seen him. You don't have any evidence to suggest that he exists. Using the exact some logical arguments that you would make for the non existence of unicorns and magic invisible frogs, you claim there is a god. That's complete hypocrisy. It doesn't make any kind of logical sense.

Barely anything written in any holy book has any relevance in modern society, and the things that do are just plain common sense. As Chronic said before, any reasonably intelligent person could have come along and given the moral guidance that jesus (for example) gave in the bible. It's simple compassion and logic. If I lived 2000 years ago in that area of the world, I could have been jesus. If i lived in whatever age mohammad lived in in that part of the world, I could have been mohammad. These people were nothing more than good motivational and moral speakers with great people skills. Nothing more and nothing less.

people want to lift people up and make them out to be more than what they were. to try and convince people they make up all this mythology and mystical bullshit.

this phenomenon still exists, the scientologists are a prime example of that.

Wow long time no post on here. Why faith in God? Because if you can believe that millions of years ago, a piece of ooze climbed out of a pond in Somalia, formed legs and decided to morph into a human being at some point, then the belief in a divine creator isn't so far fetched.
