I think it's dumb for anyone to think that the US should leave Iraq and Afghanistan right now, today. It doesn't matter if the reasons we went there in the first place were flawed, we are there now. We can't just pack up and leave and leave the country how it is. As fucked up as it sounds, even if that's what the people of that country want we can't just leave it to them in that condition. We are taking steps to make it so those countries can govern themselves but it doesn't happen over night. People say we shouldn't press our beliefes or government on them...yeah, but again were already there. So were going to take control cus were the bigger stronger country, that's just how it is. I think those in charge saw that we can "help" these people so they did. Also, those in charge saw, which is a huge reason, how strategical and tactical controlling or having an ally in Iraq or Afghanistan is. If we had to take that by force then so be it. I, as most people do, agree that we shouldn't have gone there. But we did, so bringing that shit up over and over is useless. I think most people concentrate on the moral dilemma too much. I think Obama has made it clear that he wants troops out of those countries. Contrary to belief from you skeptics there is shit being done to make that happen, but that involves us staying there for the time being.
And he has taken huuuge steps towards bettering our foreign policy. Just trying to talk to certain countries is amazing. Obama and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad have talked to each other, through news outlets and speeches lol but still. Just the fact he is trying to engage with these countries is good, instead of force he wants to use diplomacy and dialogue. How is that not promoting Peace? Look at what he has already done as far a diplomatic disarmament goes, Iran is actually being somewhat cooperative. Many world leaders have said him winning the award has put America in a better light, a country that promotes Peace and not what it was before. That alone makes me ok with him winning anything, deserving or not. Really there is no way you can deny that America is looked at differently now, cus Obama is the Pres.
Then someone brought up Guantanamo Bay, and said he has done nothing... He stopped the tribunals going on unfairly. He signed an executive order ordering Guantanamo Bay to be closed within 1 year, so yeah.
We all see what's going on in congress as far as health reform is concerned.
The Economy. Everybody ate off the surplus directly or indirectly. There were potholes being fixed cus of it, that's how broke cities were. Many economists are saying the recession is ending and we are on a rebound. Jobs come after that. So that is getting better.
I just don't see how people can say he has done nothing. We didn't even talk about all the little shit he has done, regarding abortion, Israel and Palestine, making shit better for employees, etc...
I definitely overlooked some shit and just dont know much about others but whatever. He has done things during his presidency.
