Same lol. I knew who won last year because of his influence in the Balkans and Kosovo specifically. Either way, I know who's won it a few years back also. I try to keep up with these things.

What, I can't state my opinions without acting my age ?

Maybe not according to you Sigh, ok discuss away bud ?
Ah, you're gonna break it down and take the literal meaning of it. Clever.

If that's the case, I'll say it clearly.

Do not come in here or anywhere on the board/forums and start/engage in beef. The very end result will be a ban.

Here is a rule that applies:

We do not accept our forum members beefing with one another. Disagreements of opinion and arguments are normal but please do not cross the line by allowing it to escalate to beef and personal abuse.
I don't think you'll have trouble following that. There's a thin line of what is acceptable and what is not, I'm sure you can find that line and stay on the correct side of it.

the chairman of the nobel peace prize committee is norway's previous prime minister. he was affiliated with the labour party in his prime minister days, and he has been a long-time member of the norwegian parliament (prior to being prime minister iirc, but still affiliated with the labour party), as well as the president of the parliament. and he's currently the secretary general of the council of europe.

lately there's been a lot of shit in national news papers about how he should resign, considering it's gonna be hard to believe that he is independent, and that his work isn't part of a political agenda. he has so far declined.

norway have always taken an active part in peace keeping processes, and have had good standing relationships with a lot of nations up until bush put us in a spot where we were forced to either side with the us in the war on terrorism, or having to fear getting shut out for not supporting the american political agenda in the middle east.

so i think there are parts of this whole thing involving our relationship to the u.s. and such that could have affected the outcome of this years peace prize award.

Well, I think what you think is right Preach, something certainly has effected the outcome, and that's probably it. Damn corrupt politicians brothers and sisters, I SWEAR ! *shakes head*

Sigh is always serious like a mofo. You fuck with Sigh, you fuck with me.

Senate committe voted 14-9 for the Baucus plan. Snowe actually voted 'I'. I watched it live, dude next to her got up and walked right out the room, lol. Next step is to get a public option in the final bill. I hope i works out, I can't believe some of the lies being told and misinformation being given, unfuckingbelievable.

I think it's dumb for anyone to think that the US should leave Iraq and Afghanistan right now, today. It doesn't matter if the reasons we went there in the first place were flawed, we are there now. We can't just pack up and leave and leave the country how it is. As fucked up as it sounds, even if that's what the people of that country want we can't just leave it to them in that condition. We are taking steps to make it so those countries can govern themselves but it doesn't happen over night. People say we shouldn't press our beliefes or government on them...yeah, but again were already there. So were going to take control cus were the bigger stronger country, that's just how it is. I think those in charge saw that we can "help" these people so they did. Also, those in charge saw, which is a huge reason, how strategical and tactical controlling or having an ally in Iraq or Afghanistan is. If we had to take that by force then so be it. I, as most people do, agree that we shouldn't have gone there. But we did, so bringing that shit up over and over is useless. I think most people concentrate on the moral dilemma too much. I think Obama has made it clear that he wants troops out of those countries. Contrary to belief from you skeptics there is shit being done to make that happen, but that involves us staying there for the time being.

And he has taken huuuge steps towards bettering our foreign policy. Just trying to talk to certain countries is amazing. Obama and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad have talked to each other, through news outlets and speeches lol but still. Just the fact he is trying to engage with these countries is good, instead of force he wants to use diplomacy and dialogue. How is that not promoting Peace? Look at what he has already done as far a diplomatic disarmament goes, Iran is actually being somewhat cooperative. Many world leaders have said him winning the award has put America in a better light, a country that promotes Peace and not what it was before. That alone makes me ok with him winning anything, deserving or not. Really there is no way you can deny that America is looked at differently now, cus Obama is the Pres.

Then someone brought up Guantanamo Bay, and said he has done nothing... He stopped the tribunals going on unfairly. He signed an executive order ordering Guantanamo Bay to be closed within 1 year, so yeah.

We all see what's going on in congress as far as health reform is concerned.

The Economy. Everybody ate off the surplus directly or indirectly. There were potholes being fixed cus of it, that's how broke cities were. Many economists are saying the recession is ending and we are on a rebound. Jobs come after that. So that is getting better.

I just don't see how people can say he has done nothing. We didn't even talk about all the little shit he has done, regarding abortion, Israel and Palestine, making shit better for employees, etc...

I definitely overlooked some shit and just dont know much about others but whatever. He has done things during his presidency.

Now wait a minute here. Around 1 minute into the video, they show a clip of Obama saying he "argues for more troops for Afghanistan to finish the fight".

Correct me if im mistaken, but some of you critizised him for promoting peace during the campaign, when he just made the decision to get some 12 thousand new soldiers into Afghanistan.
