Technology PS3 Slim and price drop official!

Sony announced today that effective immediately the Sony PS3 will drop to $299.99. They also unveiled their PS3 slim which is smaller and lighter than the previous ps3's and comes with a 120gb hdd and which will hit stores on Sept. 1st. So here's a chance for anybody who has been waiting to get the PS3 to get one for $100 cheaper and with a 120gb hard drive.

I hope not a lot of people hear about this, lol yeah right... I was messing around on Craig's List the other day seeing how much I can get rid of my 80gb for and I asked for $250 and had like 40 people asking about it. I'm gonna get rid of it asap and get this ha.

Is your 80gb one of the original motorstorm or metal gear solid ones? Cause you could probably get alot more than $250 for it since it's one of the model that actually plays ps2 games. All the new models dont play ps2 games so alot of people would rather put up the money to buy one of the original models just to be able to play their ps2 games.

It does have an ethernet port. All the xbox fanboys are making up watever bullshit they can to convince people not to finally get a ps3.

Unfortunately not. The release of Ps3 slim was a good move but except that Sony makes a lot of mistakes and it seems like they don't understand peoples needs.

Yep it sucks for people who actually wanna play the ps2 games on their ps3. I myself have a backwards compatible ps3 and i RARELY even play ps2 games these days but thats just me. Sony recently filed for a patent on a new kind of "emulation software" and many people in the industry have said that sony plans on making the newer ps3's backwards compatible using an emulation patch one day soon. So i honestly wouldn't be surprised if that is wat sony is gonna do sooner or later.

I still 360 > ps3, simply b/c xbox has mass effect and bioshock.

My xbox got the red ring of death and I've been playing my brothers ps3 lately. I cannot stand that controller. It feels so fucking awkward in my hands and I hate the triggers.

Mass Effect 2 is worth buying an xbox 360 for alone imo. It will be out for the PC as well though.

^Yeah, I've been waiting for Mass Effect two since I finished the first one lol. I honestly think its the best rpg type game I've played since FF7. I'm kind've pissed right now though now that I've gotten the red ring of death. I wanted to import my mass effect 1 save over but I don't think I'll be able to do that anymore =/. I had shepard at level 60 and everything too.
