its laughable that you compare Ireland to England when it comes to football. We reached the quarters of the finals of the WC and reached the second round twice. so when you consider everything, thats an achievement for a country like Ireland. The last 3 times we played you. we won twice and drew once. as i pointed out already, England has a massive population which in turns gives you a far greater pool of players to pick from. you have much better facilities. you are supposedly the home of football, you have one of the biggest leagues in the world yet you have only one WC to show for it and you you have rarely come even close to winning it since. but if it makes you feel good to compare England's football superiority over Ireland, then go ahead lol

I am not claiming to be the best. But at time we have won trophies. You bitter Irish. Always casting an envious eye across the waters, have not.

If ENgland has 52 million, then obviously they are gonna produce far more pro footballers and top class players. as i said in addition to that. you also have far greater facilities and funding to produce those top players.

I don't feel superior to Ireland. To be honest they are so insignificant I rarely notice them. Oh yeah, I guess I do feel superior then.

Just to point out, you started the hating on England first. Being English, and kind of your landlord, I obviously responded. Why did you feel the need to comment, I can only guess envy. Envy about the language you speak ( as an Englishmen I own the language), envy from our far richer shores, envy that we are superior in every sports apart from the ones that only you guys play... and envious that we have a far more varied diet than potatoes.

Serbia always comes out strong in the qualifying, the best out of the Ex-Yugo countries on many occasions, then once they get to the actual tournament, they're limp. Antic is now their manager who is more than capable, but we'll see what happens. and no im not bitter towards England. If you were playing France id be shouting for England and ye do have Carragher and Gerrard who id like to see do well but thats where it stops im afraid.

there are certain things i dislike about the England national fooball team and it has nothing to do with the history or politics.

-the arrogance of the english media
-the treatment of Liverpool players by the england fans and the england set up in the past. for this reason even most scousers hate the England national team
-the supporters. not all of them obviously. but the core England support that go the games are utter cunts. They are terrible. booing their own players etc.
-the over hyping of average english players
-The scape goating when things dont go well.
-most of the players are twats.

i can see England making the quarters or semis as well though. i think they are lacking in certain departments though.

Who cares how many strikers they have. It's the 21st century, anyone from any position can set up and score a goal. They have a good midfield and a solid defence. They're losses in the qualifiers if anything prepared them for a reality trip that they have to play better and they will.

I'm very sceptical about teams who haven't lost in awhile.. its only a matter of time!. Id rather a team get it's kinks out now then to be humbled when it counts.

And that's one of the reasons i think Portugal is dangerous. They've experienced those losses (which every team has to at some point) already. The only way is up for them. They have experience with youth. Ronaldo hasn't ever played great for Portugal which beckons the statement.."surely it's only a matter of time until he finally finds his feet in the international game". And if he does at this World Cup. Shit, the opposition are in trouble.

If people give the Dutch, the English, the Argies all a chance then in retrospect they've accomplished just as much or as little as Portugal in the last decade.

My opinions still stands that with all the injuries every team has copped that this is going to be the most even World Cup ever. I think 25 of the 32 nations are dead set contenders. You simply can't put one nation above another because so many players in this WC are in the same basket. Young, inexperienced in World Cups and oozing with enthusiasm.

Every World Cup people say how good the English or the Dutch will do. Every world cup they get knocked out by nations with a similar grade to Portugal. I'm not gonna be left with egg on my face this cup by saying a team will do shit then all of a sudden they click and look like champions. That goes for every team/nation.
