I've finished watching the game for a 2nd time and here are some pointers that I think.
* Make Eduardo (Portuguese Goalkeeper) the captain of the Portuguese national side & let C. Ronaldo just play his natural game. He isn't a leader, never was, never will be. However the passion and intensity that Eduardo has shown through out the World Cup tournament has been second to none. We deserve someone like him leading us around. We deserve pride in the jersey, anthem and country like he shows 100% of the time.
* Good win though by Espana. When they play united and together for each other, Espana are a very formidable side. Portugal didn't attack enough and the passing game from Espana was clincal and well executed. Time for Portugal to rebuild their mid field flanks and to find a decent striker whom can finish an attacking set piece and actually find the back of the net. Espana have to fix their defense against counter attacks to win this cup. That's the only area where they are shaky. All the best Espana!
* You tried & toiled hard all game Portugal. In the end a 1-0 defeat was enough to send us home but hold your heads high. There is a bright future and maiden World Cup championship right around the corner for a Selecção das Quinas. Let's look towards EURO 2012 and the World Cup in Brasil in 2014. We've conquered Brasil once already, let's do it again. only this time on the football field!. Viva PORTUGAL!
* All refs were Spanish speaking refs from former Spanish ruled nations. How that happened in this day and age with thousands of refs from different places I'll never know. FIFA have ruined their main attraction with poor refs, poor decisions and biased calls for the big nations.
* If you touch a player at the world cup with a fingernail it's an instant penalty but if you touch c.ronaldo with a punch to the face it's basically play on? Where's the consistency? The red card on Costa was a disgrace. Did he even touch the Spanish player?
* Spain eventually will play either Argentina or Germany, if they beat Paraguay. They'll be going home soon enough.
* I'm going for Uruguay, Paraguay, Ghana and Brasil now. I hope the Germans, Dutch, Spanish all go home in a few days. Argentina look the best team so far however.
