i watched holland-argentina while i was at the office... boring game, but it was well played
we are definetely not going to win this world cup, but it could be holland or england, i like both teams a lot
I don't know what you've been smoking but pass that! Argentina are definitely one of the serious contenders for the cup. They played solid as a rock. You're just like us Dutch, survive the Group of Death with no loss and 1 conceded goal and only be remotely satisfied
And FlipMo, Germany and Spain are looking good, yes, but take into account that their groups weren't really that challenging. For me, "Dark Horse" Ukraine disappointed a bit after their flawless qualification and 2nd place in youth European championship (which we won
). Saudi Arabia was certainly not up to par and Tunisia isn't looking like a world beater either.
In group A, Poland plainly sucked. Costa Rica was truly awful. Ecuador is better but not really first rate.
I think, looking at the circumstances, the best impressions so far are Holland and Argentina for surviving a tough group (Ivory Coast was seriously strong. they could've gotten far in a different group) with such little damage.
Germany and Spain look decent but they haven't had any serious work yet. Portugal looks solid with 9 pts from a mediocre group. Italy screwed up but has a chance to redeem itself tomorrow. Brazil will get their 9 pts but haven't convinced yet. I think they'll grow as the tournament progresses. They're "Zilians" after all.
France looks poor and lazy as of yet. England hasn't convinced either but I think they'll improve along the way.
The Czechs look decent despite their fluke against Ghana, but they'll have a tough match against the Italians. Croatia put up strong resistance against Brazil, floundered against Japan and should set things right tomorrow against the "Soccaroos". They won't win the cup though.
