Australia drew 1 all with the Netherlands in today's friendly match. I think people underestimate what Australia is made of.

For that reason i'd say:

Australia 1 vs Japan 0 for the opening match

For the grand final:

Brazil vs Germany

Aussies were kicking us all over the place. That knee against Cocu should've been a red. Holland should've gotten a penalty because of hands by forgot-his-name.

Aussies are a very tough (literally) team, but on the footballing side they've got very little to show.

That was Vince Grella. Three injuries now....:fury:
Cocu, Sneijder and vBrockhorst.....fucked up.

The missed some players on theri midfield, one of the reasons they played this way. It was horrible. Allmost a San Marino-way of playin...

My friend, all you need to know going to the cup is Brazil. There nobody else to watch.Dont waste your time on other teams.

But,quick recap of the World Cup history.First cup was in 1930 in Uruguay and they won.Brazil holds the record for most cups with 5.58,62,70,94,and 2002 are the years they've won.Italy and Germany are next with 3 cups for each.Brazil has had many class players.Pele,Garrincha,Zito,Santos,Socrates,Zico,Romario,Bebeto.Pele holds record for most goals with 1225.
There are other class players from different countries.Cruyff,Maradona,Bekenbour,Stoichkov,Baggio,Uesebio,Rosi,Van Basten,Platin,Yashin and more.
Italy have been known historically for their defense.
Germany for their rough way of play(tackling and breaking legs).
Brazil for unique technic.

Just random thoughts.I'm sure someone else will inform you more.

I've always been loyal Italy fan and supported them.Ever since my birth in 86,I was cheering for Italy and crying on some meaning games.Collected so many posters and did so many silly things to prove something.Baggio's penalty miss in 94 almost killed my soul.98 last minute loose against France made me survive another heart attack.Only time i got to see them live in 96 or 97 when they visited Georgia and even though they beat us 1-0, it was our victory. With such a low score from such huge country history against such weak country.Only time i lost my mind and went against my own country and cheered for opposite side.
I think im having change of heart.I'm starting to loose my patience with their lack of consistency and whole attitude toward games. They need to focus more on playing on the field rather then focusing on how much gel to put on hair and look some mafioso dons.
i totally agree with this. still i'm gonna support them this year again. they have an attitude problem tho.

what are you guys predictions for each group?

group A- germany and poland
group B- england and sweden
group C- argentina asnd netherlands
group D- mexico and portugal
group E- italy and czech republic
group F- brazil and croatia
group G- france and korea
group H- spain and tunisia

i know i have high hopes for italy and they will most probably deceive me.. but whatever. if italy deceives me, i know that at least i can't be deceived by brazil.

Brazil is probably gonna win. Other countries that are historicly seen most important in soccer are:
- Argentina
- England
- France
- Germany
- Holland
- Italy
- Spain
- Uruguay (were WC 2 times)

U gotta know Holland showed the world how to play football in '74 and '78. We lost the both finals but with the style of playin we used then, we introduced the modern style of playing football.
We are known for our attractive and attacking way of playing. Make sure you watch our matches, they are gonna be worth it.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of Italy. Don't get me wrong: I love the country. Just hate their style of playing. So defensively it's boring. They allways have brilliant players but they never seem to show it because of the way they play. That's a shame.

My predictions:
group A- Germany and Poland
group B- England and Sweden
group C- The Netherlands and Ivory Coast
group D- Portugal and Mexico
group E- Czech republic and Italy
group F- Brazil and Croatia
group G- France and Suisse
group H- Ukraine and Spain

check out Ronaldinho on youtube.

Brazil are the world champs and are again favourites to win it again as they have the best team on paper. As they have Ronaldinho (best player right now) Ronaldo (former 3 time world player of the year) Adriano and Kaka who are world class right now.

But alot of other nations like listed above can win it.

Alot of teams in the WC are making their debut such as Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Trinidad & Tobago. Theyre not expected to do that well, maybe Ivory Coast will.

Don't expect too much from Ronaldhino ;) He's at his best when usurping the defenders so that someone else can make an easy goal.

He didnt play very good in the semi finals and the final of the Championsleague. He seemd to be a bit tired. I wouldn't be supriced if he's gonna be the disappointment of this tournament. I expect a lot of Henry.

People expect too much of Ronaldhino. He's a good player but he can't win matches on his own. It's a team sport. Some people don't seem to understand this.

Funny thing about Ronaldhino is that he doesn't actually have to play well to be beneficial to the team. He's always a huge threat when he's on the ball and this allows the rest run around freely when all eyes are on him.

I'm expecting Henry to play a killer tourney though :)
