Well for one it's easy to just speak. You're just speaking. To be a part of the struggle and speak, now thats different. Understanding would be involved rather than just information. What you're trying to live up to is at the moment an unrealistic ideal. That ideal is that we can all live integrated and peacefully which I'm sorry to inform you just does not work.

Not simply because of racism but because of cultural differences and morals that are not up for compromising. Things such as the foods we eat, types of clothes we wear, the kinds of barbers or salons we go to and etc.
Obviously there is a need for specialist goods and services, but that doesn't mean there has to be entire communities of blacks, entire communities of whites, entire communities of Cubans etc. You might not think it's possible, but it is and it happens over here. I have black neighbours, I have Asian neighbours. In my community there are specialist shops to cater to the needs of specific groups, but they're integrated.

In reality theres a problem when the inhabitants of an area are populated by one group of people( Blacks, Spanish, Asian) and the administraitor of all the goods /businesses (Mcdonalds,Ford Dealerships,Walgreeens,K-Mart) are outside of that group and live outside of the community it creates a problem. The problem created is that the money that should stay within that community travels outside of that community, primarily to where the Administraitor lives. Thus the Community that the administraitors are occupying gets sucked dry because the money that they are spending in their neighborhoods gets carried and used outside of that community. To put it plain and simple they get robbed for not knowing how to do themselves.[/quote]
I'm not denying the importance of local businesses, but I think you're making it a racial issue when it isn't one. Obviously the owners of McDonald's live outside of your community, they live outside of most peoples community. However, the money that you spend at McDonald's does go to the people that work at that branch, people in your community.

As far as the whole Cuba Gooding Jr. Tiger Woods Scenario I never said that I didn't like them, I never gave that kind of opinion. What I did say was they are not a good representation of us. Denzel Washington and Samuel L. Jackson are great examples of proper representation and they are well mannered and well spoken.

The difference with Tiger Woods and a Cuba Gooding Jr. is their image. This is something that you have to be black to understand because it's innate. Only we know what we're talking about. I can try to explain it to you but I doubt you'll understand. For instance....

I couldn't Imagine seeing Cuba Gooding Jr. at my Barber shop just talking as one of the guys, I couldn't see Tiger woods at the Jamaican food store in my hood getting some jerk chicken and goat. At the same time I can see Denzel or a Samuel L. Jackson there because they remind me of people within my community. They remind me of uncles or cousins. Thats not something I get from a Cuba Gooding Jr. or a Tiger Woods.

Thats the best I can describe it to you.
Tiger Woods and Cuba Gooding Jr. aren't necessarily representations of you or your community, but that doesn't mean they've 'sold out' or compromised their integrity. I don't think they have.

No it doesn't. I mean of course employees get paid but thats not what I mean. I'm talking about tax money. The taxes we pay is what fixes our neighborhoods, keeps our buildings and complexes clean and well kept. One fucked up House or dirty Duplex on the block brings the property value of that neighborhood down. So imagine more than half the houses being like that. Then it's obvious you're dealing with a people thats colonized.

The only way for it to stop is for the people their to wisen up and take control, seperate themselves completely because once you're colonized you don't count anyways. We need to take control of the businesses of our commmunity and rebuild our neighborhoods.

True Leaders would express that, instead we got muthfucking Al Sharpton boycotting chicken cause he's an Uncle Tom who's sold out.

You're talking about what can happen and it can, just not now. What I'm talking about is right now, how things work now. Right now there are entire neighborhoods of BLacks, Asians, Cubans, Mexicans, and etc. In the Black communities that I live/lived in are getting robbed. Thats how its working and thats how it's worked for years now. I'm not making anything racial, it just is racial. It was racial before I got there.

There really is no explaining this I notice , it's just how it is. Ya'll wanna play fantasy warfare and shit, talking about what can and can't happen. Ya'll make the world sound like cake. It's annoying when you stay there and see this, and people just act like it doesn't fucking exist or a nigga is just making it up.

So fuck it, think what you want. Ya'll just wanna sound smart.

Everybody that's talking about Tiger Woods 'sold out' needs to check his background.

I'm not just talking about his actual racial make-up, but how Woods grew up was not stereotypical so how can you expect him to represent stereotypes?

As for Kortez comments, if people are getting 'robbed' because they don't know 'how to do it themselves', why don't you teach them?
You're saying that blacks communities need to own their own businesses, how?
Are you putting up the capital?

Money rules the world - not saying it's the way it should be but you're so eager to talk about what it is - but to bitch about famous/rich black people & try to somehow make a link between them bettering themselves & the average black's social plight, while not totally unfounded, is pretty thin.

So Gooding and Woods don't 'represent' the black community, what the hell difference does that make. They were black before they stopped 'representing' the black community. Both are highly successfull, so they get hated on. Tha's plain irrational.
And if a representation of the black community is puff daddy and Nas, then you got issues!
Ain't nobody help no one, get up and do it yourselves. And when you do make it successful, then you sold out. Pfft STFU and stop wallowing in self-pity!

Aye. At the end of the Nas song there's yelling like

"What chu doin gor the hood wit all that paper, man?"

"Ey, EY! Come back to the hood, nigga, c'mon, man, come back to the hood"

THat's what Nas means. Forgettin where they came from, not going back to you your roots and givin back to the community.

Separating yourself from the rest of society will achieve nothing. If you seriously think that you can just cut yourself off from the rest of the country and survive, you're the one who's being naive. If you want to clean up your neighbourhoo then yes, go out there and do it. Set up your own business, make some money, come back and fix up your neighbourhood. Don't expect famous people who lived lives nothing like yours to do it for you, just because they have the same skin colour as you. But the important point is, you can't remove yourself from the system. Oppose the system if you think it's unfair, but your aim should be to make the system work for you, not to bypass it altogether. Oh, and don't try to act as if only black people live in bad neighbourhoods. Like I said, it's not all about race.

You're talking about what can happen and it can, just not now. What I'm talking about is right now, how things work now. I'm talking about what the long term goals should be. I'm not saying it can happen overnight or anything, but trying to further alienate yourself from society will do you no good whatsoever.

Fantasy warfare? What the fuck? You're the one trying to start a revolution from your bedroom, you're the one that wants to separate black communities from the rest of the country.

With that statement its obvious you know nothing of where a revolution starts or ends. Either way you're hear to sound intelligent, but you're not illuminmating anything. You're not even realistic. Number one if you're colonized than that means You have already been seperated from everybody whether you like it or not. Our opinion doesn't count anyway. Nobody cares about what people from my neighborhood have to say. Business has to happen to Intergrate. So when you see these Ford Dealerships, Mcdonalds, K- Marts,Blockbusters, Hollywood Videos in the little run down neighborhoods thats the result of Intergration. When the earnings from those businesses(tax money) does not help fix the conditions of the communities which they are a part of than the Intergration was a fix, a tall tale, a trick, a lie. Why? because we have lost money by putting money into businesses within our community which are being used for the advancement of another community.

All this Just to Integrate? No, the Intergration needs to stop for a moment and we need to take back our communities, fix them and then we'll do the whole Integration thing again but this time we will make sure we are prepared and aware of whats going to take place and how money will be properly distributed so we have less run down neighborhoods. This doesn't create a world where Black people and white people don't interact, this just creates an environment where Black people begin to invest in their own creations. We'll be owning the stores in our neighborhoods and spending our money at the stores in our own neighborhoods, so we can fix our own neighborhoods.

Kortez, if this problem is so urgent, then what the fuck are you doing on a computer right now?

Point is, when someone actually does something succesful, they are hated on. And alot of black people just want everyone to continue conforming to bullshit sterotypes. Quit with the segregation and let people continue making moves in society. What kind of shit is it to hate on a successful black person who has a white wife

So now your judging me when you dont know me thats a little hypocritical dont you think? And I didnt assume anything I left it an open question.. Anyway well done congratulations you got through it but maybe people handle things differently, maybe you had good role models for parents who knows. But I'm not waiting for anyone to hand anything to me I have a job.

I agree with Kortez.

Have you ever been to a school in the ghetto? Its very hard to learn when you only have 5 books in a classroom that has 40 kids. Especially when the teachers that they hire at those schools are the teachers that couldnt cut it in the good schools so they send them there.

My parents came from a war torn country (vietnam), only had grade 8 education. Its very hard to learn when your school and community is being bombed daily. They came to the country not speaking a word of english and had to learn it in their late 20s. Now my dad makes 24 bucks an hour as a welder. You don't need an education to succeed, it helps, but isn't required to make it.
