Except for the fact that this founding of America has religious ties in it.

Everything is tied into religion, whether you like it or not. Including our moral beliefs, such as killing is wrong.

And yes, Calc, I know this subject doesn't just apply to America.
No the actual founding of America had unwritten ties to spirituality & humanity - it had fuck all do with the opium of the masses that we know today.

Kinda dumb killing someone to show that killing someone is wrong.....or any other crime
haha, great. I'm against it, noone has the right to decide if someone else should die, only God is allowed to do that but no man.

Well, still doesn't give you the right to take away someone else's life. Period. If you don't believe in God don't act like one.

u cant act like god if u think there has never been one.

so u say "it doesnt give u the right" - but who (or what) is the one who gives someone else the right to do it? thats the question...

noone has the right to kill, that is what I believe in. so it's wrong for a person to commit a murder, that's why we put them in jail, cause at the same time it's wrong to execute someone.

.....And I don't even want to talk about all them negros that were innocent executed...

then what is an appropriate punishment? put him in jail for his whole life? under what circumstances? torture him, but not to death?...

why torture him? wow. Nah, just put him in jail. If someone can't live in this society with other people, you gotta take him away. U do that by putting him in a place where he's no longer part of society. simple as that.

i dont know if thats an appropriate punishment for someone who killed another person (or maybe even more than just one).

when hes no longer a member of this society, why should the society pay the costs (his jail-time and all that)?

but ok, if u believe in god, i understand your point of view

(btw: why dont u answer my pm?)

It's a proven fact that exectutions (in the US) cost more money then jail time so if you care about the money, you're against the death penalty....
But for me it ain't about the money. A society has to make decisions based on moral point of views and you can't only see the money, I'd still be against the death penalty if it would be cheaper then jail time.

(P.S: Didn't find the time yet to read what crews are all about.)

I am 100% against the Death penalty.

I can not stand governmental hypocricy and that is it at it's height.

I often quote Ghandi when this topic is brought up."an Eye for an Eye leaves us all blind"

or "two wrongs don't make a right"

I personaly rather die then spend years in jail anyway, I think prison is more of a punishment.

^ I agree with everything Harry said except the governmental hypocrisy thing. In the United States it's more an issue of States' Rights.

I'm also 100% against it. Harry said it very well. Death penalty is also killing some1..
I also can't comprehend relatives of some1 murdered looking as spectators at some1 who's getting the death penalty.. that's almost devilish to me
Life sentence should be the highest penalty

death penalty and life sentences solve nothing

like harry_potter said with the ghandi quote "eye for an eye leaves us all blind".... murder solves nothing

and leaving some caged like an animal and treating them like one doesnt solve anything either
