Whats the difference between American and over seas athletes.

I think something that all of you have overlooked is the college and draft system in America. This means that guy aren't becoming professional until they are 21-22, and then they need a couple of seasons to adjust to the pro level, hence the older guys are kept on longer.

In football (soccer) in Europe players go pro straight out of high school. i.e. 16-17, so this means that they are hitting their peak at a younger age. Also because of this the American sportsmen aren't actually having a longer career, they just start later.

Obviously there are special cases, for example lets see if Lebron is still going in his 40's.

Peace.

Ye there might be some truth in that, i do think that football/soccer is way more energy draining than baseball or basketball tho, plus if you play football you cover a lot more ground.

Erm, no.

Football (soccer) is tougher physically meaning players bodies either succumb to injury - thus meaning they can't play at all or just won't be picked because they're no longer effective - or their bodies just naturally deteriote to the point that they won't be picked ie. they are slower, not as fit etc. Retiring really has fuck all to do with a lack of wage.
Erm. yes. thats what i meant basically. soccer is tougher sport physically compare to other sports in America, their body cant handle or take it in long time of period. therefore soccer players seem to leave the game early because of it.

yes, i think that could be one reason. although, now you see more and more athletes just jump straight from the high school to Pro. specially in NBA.

Yes, soccer is more draining then basketball.you mostly train in upper body in basketball where in soccer you mostly train in lower body which is legs,quads.. therefore lower body is more important then upper body cause you need healthy legs to walk before you take a shot in a basket. plus in soccer you cover more ground.

Play four quarters of basketball then play a soccer match, then tell me which one is more draining.

hahaha..

you play 90 minute plus in soccer with just one rest time between.you run up and down all over the how big is soccer field again, lol i forgot but im pretty sure its 4 size as big as basketball field.

you play 4 quarters of basketball game (48 minutes), where you get rest in average of every 3 minutes.

plus in soccer you playin in bigger area. i dont know exaclt how big. you cover bigger field then basketball. and you only got 3 subs in soccer where in basketball you can sub player as long and as many time as you want.

answer to your question. soccer is more draining then basketball.

Basketball players are up and down the court the entire game. Footballers tend to stick more rigidly to their position. So basketball is actually more energy sapping.

You musn't play soccer then because you're treating it as an exact science.

1) In soccer you have specified positions and rarely venture too far away (for instance excluding free kicks and corners how often do you see the centre back making a dart for goal)?

2) In basketball it's run run run for the entire quarter (excluding timeouts), in soccer you may be in action for only a brief period of time before the play swings away again. In soccer you have a far greater period of rest than you do in basketball.

3) I play both (soccer moreso) and have to say while after a game of soccer I'm usually okay (in the tired sense) after a full game of basketball I'm absolutely knackered everytime. Can you say honestly say opposite?

I do play soccer actually.

1)yes you play with position in soccer and you would think you stick with your position but thats not the case really. do you not see roberto carlos play defense when they attackin him and then go up help offense.in soccer you have positions but you also have the area in that position at least that you have to cover and that area for each positional player is half of the basketball field.at least, you dont really just say im gonna stick with my position and not go on other players area, so, you do actually cover other ground other then your position specially midfielders. midfielders have the hardest job in game. they cover most of the ground. when attackin they have to be envolved in and when they get attacked they also have to defend.

2)in basketball its run run run but its also a lot more out of bounds then in soccer which gives them brake.
you say in soccer you have a far greater period of rest than you do in basketball because the constant change play of the ball in soccer but you also have a lot of time outs in basketball which gives it constant brake, every 3 mins in average like i said.

plus dont forget you play with your foot in soccer where in basketball with your hand so you dont just run run run in soccer or in basketball, you run and use either your foot or your hand and playing with your foot is more draining then playing with your hand.

None of what you say disproves my point. In soccer yes you aren't stuck in rigid positions but the rate of movement is negligble in comparison to basketball and the ball is out of play almost as much in football as it is in basketball if you take corners, free-kicks, throw-in's and goal kicks into account. All in all basketball is a more energy sapping sport.

well, either you read my previous post and igonored it or just didnt understand. i did disproved your point.

you said in soccer you have certain positions and you stick with them but i told you thats not really the case because you dont just stick with your position, you cover other ground too.if that was the case then trust me game would be much easy and it be one on one game.if you think a positional player really sticks with his position you must be wrong.besaides, even though the ball is not in your position and you're not involved in that particular play you still do running, you dont just stand there and pick up your noise and look how others play.that goes for specially mid fielders.

Anybody that plays both sports will tell you that you get more tired playing basketball. Competitive basketball. I'm not into soccer, but I know that if you're on offense, you're most likely to just stand around and wait for the ball, then sprint and try to score the goal. In basketball, all 5 players are in constant movement.

Sorry man but you don't know shit.

On offense you stand around? No.

You make runs before you receive the ball & half the time those runs will amount to diddily squat.
