Whats the difference between American and over seas athletes.

It seems like athletes here in United States in almost all of sports basketball, baseball, hockey play forever.you have some players 40 years of age and still playing and in fact some athletes here seem to get better within the age as they get older, curt shilling, barry bonds.. or some of them seem to be in their primes when usually athletes prime is in their late 20's.

but in over seas like in UK,Italy,Germany...athletes dont last that long. i hardly see soccer player whos in his late 30's and still competing in top level.over seas soccer players actually dont get to play when they get that old, they dont get offer big time contract and they quit early so that could be one reason. but i still dont get it. is it because maybe athletes in America or (American people) are more physically build then athletes in over seas and that helps them last longer or athletes here are trained much harder but, i remember i used to train everyday when i was young in my country in soccer but here you dont get too much of training because i guess since this country is more advanced and more things you can do here then people here have better stuff to do then to be training every single day another words people wont give too much time for sports here.
or maybe its something like steroids? but not everybody is using steroids here.
or perhaps its sport itself that maybe basketball and baseball players would last longer then soccer players because soccer is much tougher to handle in long amount of time.the fact is that in all of athletes, soccer players are the most ones to get tired and most one to get callapsed physically because at least 95% of soccer training is in legs and humans most important part in their body is legs because no matter how strong you are build in upper budy if you cant walk then you aint usefull.where in basketball or baseball or even american football you dont really train as much in legs, you really train in upper body.
so maybe it is a sport thing that soccer players dont last longer cause they ware out much quicker then other athletes due to trainings they do.i dont know you tell me why athletes here seem to last longer then athletes in over seas.

Because basketball hockey an baseball are not as tiring as football or soccer as you call it, football is played on a much bigger pitch, they cover more ground.

Soccer players are given multi-million dollar contracts in Europe. Not too sure how much the American footballers get paid, but over here in Australia we raise an eyebrow if a player's salary goes over a mil.

Ok, I thought that maybe the American athletes are paid more. Greed will make somebody comeback for more if they can get another multi-million dollar contract, it would be worth the money to do so... even with a help from medication.....

I think I can agree on the physical aspect, I believe that soccer is more phycical than baseball, baseball players can often rely on their wisdom to keep competing.

the top basketball, american football, baseball players in the US get paid waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than the top footballers in Europe

and the point u had about the differences between the workrate in the sports is probably the biggest factor. I can't see a baseball player needing to be fit as a footballer.

Sponsorships don't really count that much eg David Beckham would get around the same in sponsorships playing for Man U or Real Madrid (Beckham bein the richest footballer includin sponsorships). In actual paypackets from the clubs they play for, top sportsmen/women in the US get more per week than their UK counterparts. A European football contract at 5 mill a year is a big contract...in the US that'd prolly be pretty much common

Yeah, football is played at a faster pace than any of the US sports & the season (domestic, Europe & national duties) is very long for the top players who are never really rested.

And the top US guys get much more than footballers - I think that's mainly due to how much revenue US sports generate. I mean you've got a massive population & not that many teams really whereas with football you've got thousands & thousands of teams all vying for a slice of the money - the trickle down effect means players can only get paid so much.

Also, a US athlete is a bigger attraction for a sponsoring company because of how lucrative the US economy is.

so basically what yall sayin is that sport itself plays big role in difference between the athletes here and in over seas that soccer is tougher sport and players cant handle long time playing and also money, that players here get paid and thats why they keep playin forever where in over seas player dont get paid and they quit.

Erm, no.

Football (soccer) is tougher physically meaning players bodies either succumb to injury - thus meaning they can't play at all or just won't be picked because they're no longer effective - or their bodies just naturally deteriote to the point that they won't be picked ie. they are slower, not as fit etc. Retiring really has fuck all to do with a lack of wage.

On the other hand, American sports tend to allow the 'athlete' to fall back on skill due to the nature of your sports. Also, being slower paced & having breaks in them all the time, means games & seasons aren't as tiring & thus take a lot longer to take their toll on the 'athlete's' body. Maybe American 'athletes' are lured back by the type of big money that you would never see in Europe. Fact is, American sports fans tend to become attatched to their heros - in football (soccer), quality football is what you wish to see above all else. (apart from maybe your team winning but you get the gist.)
