Ok heres some early Xbox 2 screenshots, the final games will look a lot better.

Morrowwind, the Elder Scrolls RPGs are the best RPGs ever made and they totally shit on Final Fantasy.

However, I wont jump the gun until I can make a rational choice between Xbox 2 and PS3 as I did between the Xbox and PS2. But Morrowind is fucking insane looking, Unreal 3 looks even better!

The Game above is not from the Xbox 2, that game has been in development since 2002... the project stared about the same time as the xbox came out so please... i dont know why you are making false statment to support you biasd views on consoles other then the xbox..?

No Screenshot of the Next-gen games have been released, the only stuff released is from EA and thats what they think the next-gen will look like.

If someone likes a console... cool for them, let them play thier console... why do you feel that you need to go on a internet forum and play down on another consoles? i would understand this if you are a employ a microsoft and were trying promote the xbox.

Nobody is denying that the xbox has better grapichs and is more powerfull... I play personaly play games to have fun, Doom 3 has very nice GFX and is one of the worst games of the year, gfx alone dont do it for me, i dont know if you buy games due to the gfx alone or not.

If you like Grant turismo,Final Fantasy and so on get a PS2, if you like Halo, fable then get a xbox... Get the Console that has the most game that you like, simple and easy.

I myself own a xbox and PS2... i play them regularly depending on what game i'm in the mood in.

Xbox was released in 2002 and 3 years after it realse the PS2 outsells it on every continent..! why is that? Power alone isn't everything.

Details of the chip designed to power Sony's PlayStation 3 console will be released in San Francisco on Monday. Sony, IBM and Toshiba, who have been working on the Cell processor for three years, will unveil the chip at a technology conference.

The chip is reported to be up to 10 times faster than current processors. It is being designed for use in graphics workstations, the new PlayStation console, and has been described as a supercomputer on a chip.

Sony has said the Cell processor could be used to bridge the gap between movies and video games. Special effects and graphics designed for films could be ported for use directly in a video game, Sony told an audience at the E3 exhibition in Los Angeles last year.

Cell could also be marketed as an ideal technology for televisions and supercomputers, and everything in between, said Kevin Krewell, the editor in chief of Microprocessor Report. The chip will be made of several different processing cores that work on tasks together.

The PlayStation 3 is expected in 2006 but developers are expecting to get prototypes early next year to tune games that will appear on it at launch. Details of the chip will be released at the International Solid State Circuits Conference in San Francisco.

Some details have already emerged, however. When put inside powerful computer servers, the Cell consortium expects it to be capable of handling 16 trillion floating point operations, or calculations, every second, if multiple Cell chips were used together.

The chip has also been refined to be able to handle the detailed graphics common in games and the data demands of films and broadband media. IBM said it would start producing the chip in early 2005 at manufacturing plants in the US. The first machines off the line using the Cell processor will be computer workstations and servers.

A working version of the PS3 is due to be shown off in May 2005 but a full launch of the next generation console is not expected to start until 2006. "In the future, all forms of digital content will be converged and fused onto the broadband network," said Ken Kutaragi, chief operating officer of Sony, said last year.

I kinda hope nintendo comes out strong cuz they are the true veterans but they probably will dissapoint me. So I choose the sony over microsoft just cuz microsoft already rips ppl off with their software haha no offcourse not but uhhh the ps 2 was hella nice ps 1 too x box is doing great but the controller is shit no doubt personally i choose the gamecube controller ova the ps 1/2 and x box controller and I would kinda like to see sony and nintendo fuse to take on microsoft cuz microsoft will take over.

PS3 may well not be backwards compatible as the main processor for it may not allow it to. theyre trying to modify it and see what they can come up with but theyre gambling alot that the Cell will lead to a revolution of sorts...

XBOX vs PS2...

I Have an X Box, Game Cube, and PS2. Gamecube is a distinct third. its got some great games, but not enough to keep it in the running. the two main players are XBOX and PS2.

PS2 wins it by a landslide...

The games PS2 has puts it miles ahead of the XBOX. i dont care all that much about graphics, for me its about the games and the controls.

the PS2 controller itself is damn near perfect. XBOX has a great controller as well (the smaller version) but I fee the PS2s is better.

The games is has are far superior as well (I find anyway). XBOX has "Halo 2" and its gone on about the same game for the last 2 years now. It goes to show how much little else it has going for it. with the PS2 every other week theres a nother big game coming out. For the most part the games are inter-console releases, with XBOX versions have better graphics, and PS2 versions the better handling.

Then again PS2 has a whole host of stand alone titles. I dont need to list them, you can go find them for yourself. I love Halo 2, but I love TimeSplitters 2 just as much and I think Timesplitters 3 will be even better. I just find Timesplitters a far more satisfying and entertaining game.

Not to mention the Final Fantasy series, Metal Gear Solids, Gran Tourismos, Tekkens, which XBOX cant match (though it comes close).

I have all three, I have no reason to be biased, but PS2s game catalogue and controller are two things XBOX cant match, and I think theyre the most important things. I dont care about XBOX being even 10 times better in graphics, the PS2 has great graphics in its own right...

There will be three main consoles in the next generation (obviously); Xbox 2, PS3, Nintendo Revolution.

Many people are posting discussions speculating on what they MIGHT be like. The fact of the matter is, we will not know how they compare until at least E3 2005. All we can do is look at each console and present the facts that each respective company has officially released.

Microsoft: Xbox 2

The Xbox 2's main advantage over the other consoles is its release. Most likely in late 2005. We have already seen many games that will make their debut on the Xbox successor and they look incredible. But in what most gamers want to know is what will be inside the box. Originally, Microsoft only intended for its new console to be equipped with a 3.5GHz processor. However, now that Sony has announced their Cell (which will power the PS3) will be equipped with 4+ GHz, Microsoft may try and give the Xbox 2 a little extra. But whether they do or not is really unimportant. They will be relishing that they will have the jump, like Sony did with the PS2 over Xbox and Game Cube. Finally, the Xbox 2 will take full advantage of Xbox Live. Most gamers know that Xbox Live was not designed for the Xbox, but for the Xbox 2. They launched it with the Xbox to get the jump on Sony and develop a support base. It has been a huge success and will help the Xbox 2. Xbox 2 will also take advantage of XNA which will make games easier to design and produce with developers.

Sony: Playstation 3

Its obvious advantage is a sales point of view. The PS3 will almost undoubtedly outsell both the Xbox 2 and Revolution. Not because it may be a better console, but because it has a very strong INTERNATIONAL support base. Also, it has been revealed that it may support over 4+GHz under its hood. That is an achievement in itself. Sony will launch this console in early 2006 all before Christmas 2006 (possible 12 months after Xbox). The difference will be it will not be destroyed because of the Xbox 2 getting a jump, unless Microsoft can market another product to steal the limelight at 2006's E3 and also at release. There has been speculation that this could be Halo 3. Either way the PS3 will be very successful, it’s just a question of how successful in this generation in comparison to the PS2. It will also need to work on its online capabilities to match Xbox Live which has been a huge success for Microsoft.

Nintendo: Revolution

Finally, the Dark Horse. This is the console that we know little about. However, all you have to do is look at its name, "Revolution". That makes something very clear, it will be aimed at being revolutionary. Meaning, Nintendo may be taking its console in a very different direction to allow Microsoft and Sony battle at each other. Many sources believe that it will make full function of the DS and will introduce an online capability. In power terms, the Game Cube is more powerful then the PS2, and we know that Nintendo will be trying to push its new console. The only way we can assume how powerful it will be is by stating that the Revolution will be a third normal console which will most likely run at around 3.5 GHz. However, if Nintendo takes it in a different direction (wireless for example) then we could be something very different.

Conclusion:

The next generation will be closer, every gamer knows that, as does the respective companies. However, PS3 will sell more then the others (unless Sony does something unthinkable). But, if we put aside sales and focus on the best product, I don't think it will be easy to say which one is the "best". Each console will target different areas. All we have to do now is wait until E3 where a lot of information will be released and ask ourselves as gamers, What do we want in a console? Online, Wireless, Graphics, Processor, Controllers or a console that connects to other devices, like the DS (Nintendo). All we have to do now is wait...
