^^ just wanted to say that "interest" can be understood differently, and also, there's a whole new banking system known as "Islamic banking" that has been set in place that is supposed to abide by the muslim beliefs.
Islamic banking is like halal pork, there'a no such thing. Islam is not at harmony with Capitalism.
The type of interst which is clearly forbidden in Islam is the uncertain one. Where you don't know how much more your going to pay back. and the rate of return fluctuates from month to month.

the other type of interest which is where you pay back more than what you borrowed. but the figure you pay back is a set figure. there are no fluctuations in the payments to the bank. this is also forbidden. the only type of borrowing which is allowed is where you pay back what you borrowed. this is the only system which doesn't create large amounts of debt.

Islamic banking is on the rise in the middle east, even HSBC has a huge division dedicated to this aspect, and more universities are starting to offer it as a major.

The rate of return always fluctuate, it is not decided by any contract. The only thing that is decided is the nominal sum of money of interest payments and principle.
When I said interest could be understood in different ways, I meant as "investment return" or "inflation/return in exchange of forgoing present consumption"

but i am not really familiar with the basics of the islamic banking system, so i can't really go into details about this. But I do know it's getting more and more popular

Angel Jabrial, also known as the Holy Spirit in Islam, was sent to Maryam (Mary) by the command of Allah to announce her conception of a holy boy. (Quran 19:19) “He said: ‘Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son.’” This happened without Mary having any relationships with any other man. It was the miracle in Jesus’ birth. Also, in Quran 3:45, Allah says, “And the angels said: ‘O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ JESUS, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah.’”

As we can see, Jesus has been granted high position before his birth. Allah, through his angels, told Maryam that her son won’t be an ordinary child. He is a chosen soul just as she was a chosen woman. After his birth, Jesus had the ability to communicate while in his cradle. This verse describes some of his abilities, “Then will Allah say: ‘O JESUS the son of Mary! Recount My favour to thee and to thy mother. Behold! I strengthened thee with the Holy Spirit , so that thou didst speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. Behold! I taught thee the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel and behold! thou makest out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My leave, and thou breathest into it and it becometh a bird by My leave, and thou healest those born blind, and the lepers, by My leave. And behold! thou bringest forth the dead by My leave. And behold! I did restrain the Children of Israel from (violence to) thee when thou didst show them the clear Signs, and the unbelievers among them said: 'This is nothing but evident magic.' (Quran 5:110). So, Jesus according to the Quraan had many gifts and miracles including the resurrection of the dead; however, he could only do that by the will of Allah.

To those who ask how Jesus became. The Quraan explains it very clearly, “The similitude of JESUS before Allah is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: "Be". And he became. “(Quraan 3:59)
Jesus never died, according to the Quraan. Verse 157, chapter 4, “That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ JESUS the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah.;- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:- “

This is just to explain a little bit of what’s Jesus in the Quraan.

^^^ Didn't Rukas just say not to turn this into another Islam vs Christianity thread? He just wants to know the differences between what the Bible says about Jesus and what the Quran says about Jesus. Like he said, he doesn't want a religious war in this thread, and he doesn't want preaching.

BTW, hello, hussain...remember me :) ?

I follow jesus and I'm a christian first off and would like to throw in my two cents that Jesus was a decendent of King David- which coined his nickname , "Son of David"..

but I dont have a question though- which came first, the bible or Quran? Jesus spoke of the holy spirit decending from heaven after he is resurrected which is a comforter, and the apon receiving the holy spirit you would speak in different tounges - mark 16:17...

No one is turning it to Islam Vs Christianity. I simply stated the verses that decribed Jesus in the Quraan. I don't know what the Bible say about Jesus. So, I left that to the Christians to state what the Bible say about Jesus then just compare and contrast. I didn't bash Christianity nor did I preached Islam to you. He asked what's the difference, and since he's Christian, I think he already knows what the Bible says about Jesus, so I gave him the Islamic perspective of Jesus.

I don't know if that last comment was directed at me, but I'm not hussain.

Seriously, if you took my post as a preaching post, then you've missed the whole point behind it.

You wrote a fucking essay about Islam, like at least a 1000 words, and added NOTHING to what this discussion is about. Thus your post was deleted.

This thread is closed. This forum is official fucked. You guys are so lame, you cant even have a normal discussion without turning it into a "my belief is right yours is wrong" type of thread.

So much for words of wisdom, you're smart and know your stuff, but I see no wisdom here.
