Controller looks like a big boomerang thats going to feel a bit weird.
Specs arent that impressive next to the 360, runs at same speed as the 360, 3.2ghz, and only has 256mb of RAM? I was hoping for more spec wise, but like I said, it will all even out when the games hit.

Sony also laid out the technical specs of the device. The PlayStation 3 will feature the much-vaunted Cell processor, which will run at 3.2GHz, giving the whole system 2.18 teraflops of overall performance. It will sport 256MB XDR main RAM at 3.2GHz, and it will have 256MB of GDDR VRAM at 700MHz.
2.18 teraflops, thats alot more powerful than xbox 360

RSX "Reality Synthesizer," which is based on Nvidia technology. The GPU will be capable of 128bit pixel precision, 1080p resolution, some of the highest HD resolution around. The RSX also has 512MB of graphics render memory and is capable of 100 billion shader operations and 51 billion dot products per second.

anybody check out the ps3 video footage yet? Even has clips of games......like Tekken, Devil May Cry 4, etc.
I'm far more impressed with the game footage for the ps3 than for the xbox. Dark sector was really crappy looking and when they were doing multi player on that MTV show, it was lagging.....that's wack.

^^ PaulyPac, thats interesting. I like the design too. This is the first PS that I think actually looks good and not like some 80's VCR.
Its interesting that they both went for the curved look but in opposite directions, it kind of represents what Ive been saying that the two systems will end up at the same place but go about it two different ways heh heh.

:thumb:watching the video of the Sony Press Conference now and as the "Father of Playstation" is going through the specs, he has bar graphs and everything and it seems that PS3 has a slight advantage over the XBOX 360 so far. Especially the Cell processor...as he says will be TWICE as fast as the processor for XBOX.

It still doesnt matter. Sony is full of shit, i thought it was supposed to be 6 times as fast, then 3 times as fast, now its 2 times as fast? OK. So what? Thats the CPU, the 360 GPU that handles the graphics is better than the PS3s.
And as for CPUs, the PS2 was 5x faster than the Xbox based on Sony's specs, and the Xbox STILL out performed the PS2 in every regard.
So this still really doesnt meant shit, wait for the games people, the hype is all bullshit! Its all going to even out you watch.
I hope Nintendo comes along and kicks everyones ass
The PS3 is going to cost an arm and a leg though, blue ray drives are going to jack the price up

Ahhh you're talking total, I thought you meant the CPU which is only 200 gigaflops. I still dont see how the PS3 CPU can pull 1.8 Teraflops when its LESS powerful than the 360 ones?
As for the 6x, originally the hype rumor mill said it would have 6 Cell CPUs.
Anyway like I said, wait for the games, it will all even out you watch, 360 has the better GPU and easier programming language.
I wonder what the PS is going to do with 6 or 7 controllers? Any ideas? I can see it working for sports games, but can you imagine a FPS split screen with 6 or 7 players?
