Juve and two others relegated
Friday, 14 July 2006

Serie A champions Juventus have been relegated to Serie B along with ACF Fiorentina and S.S. Lazio at the conclusion of the Italian tribunal into sporting fraud, while AC Milan will start the coming season with a 15-point deficit in the top flight.

Stripped of the Title
Italian magistrates decided to demote the Turin giants to the country's second division while also giving them a 30-point handicap for the coming Serie B campaign. In addition, Juventus have been stripped of their last two league titles, from 2005 and 2006.

Dropping a division
Fiorentina and Lazio have been relegated too after tonight's announcement by a federal commission. The Florence club, who finished fourth in Serie A in May, will start the 2006/07 season with minus 12 points, while sixth-placed Lazio join Fiorentina in dropping down a tier and have a seven-point penalty for the new term.

Points penalty
League runners-up Milan escaped relegation, with their sanction being to begin their next Serie A challenge at minus 15 points. All the clubs have three days in which to lodge an appeal.

Deadline set
The Italian Football Federation has been set a 25 July deadline by UEFA to submit the list of teams from Italy eligible to participate in the 2006/07 club competitions. UEFA's Executive Committee issued a reminder at its meeting in Berlin on Tuesday that in accordance with the FIFA and UEFA statutes, disciplinary cases should be dealt with by the appropriate decision-making bodies within the sporting strustructure. 'Full trust'
"We have full trust in the Italian FA," said UEFA communications and public affairs director William Gaillard. "They will give us the list of clubs by 25 July, we will take it and accept it as it is."

So Juve are going to be in Serie B for two seasons. Nice.

Shame AC Milan didn't go down, would've liked to have seen Pirlo and/or Gattuso at United.

A lot of Italians in the Premiership next year then. And Gattuso will probably still go to United, they want him, and he wants to go. Perfect excuse now.

@ Bachaveli - How can you be a die hard fan and not know the story? I hate Italian football, and I know the story.

Just like that my friend,i don't.
I've heard about it before some (players) of them may have been gambling and some teams were paying the refs money for their advantage. But never got the full story.

Some haters are on this thread. Despite what majority thinks my opinion is that this is the big injustice and shame. Somebody thinks that the 'healing' of Italian football can be accomplished by the relegating big clubs in the Serie B. Those clubs aren't no name clubs. They are followed by the armies of fans and with the huge interests from sponsors and especially with proud history.
How come that Milan is not relegated? They made something like this more than 20 years ago and they were relegated. Is that a reason why now they are under amnesty or is it something else? Berlusconi was the head of the club back then too. But, he used his influence and power to keep his club in the Serie A. The man which started and cooked everything sneaked through the small doors. He's the real mastermind behind this mess. Not Juventus general manager Moggi. Only Berlusconi can control two sides of society, legal and illegal. Others are too samll from him. I think that from this will benefit the most Inter, sad team which prodigality is so annoying. They couldn't win anything. Roma will stand up again but they didn't deserve to play major role in the Italian football after that what their former president used to do all the way back in the days.
This is coming from the die-hard Juventus fan. WE WILL BE ON THE TOP OF THE WORLD AGAIN! Next year I'm going to Italy to celebrate our return on the main scene. La nostra storia continua!

AC MIlan must've been quite lucky not to receive such punishment as Juve and other involved Serie A teams. There must be some degree of punishments for this match fixing scandal.

Nevertheless, it's a shame we won't see Juve or AC Milan on Europe this year. I'm a fan of football and I do like those 2 teams although my heart is still with Arsenal since '95. :)

Peace~

Bullshit. You try to fuck about with officials, you get relegated. It if was up to me, Juve would be playing Serie C.

Your fanboy behaviour has you popping tears over Juve playing B, conveniently ignoring the fact they tried to cheat all over the fucking place. It's good they got punished.

Oh, and you mean 2 years. They lost 30 points :)
