Actually...forget the Hard luck thing...didnt Italy have bad luck on the offsides? Italy shouldve been 2-0 up and Fergusons goal was offside..well marginally.

england try this:

Scott Carson in Goal. (Hes young, consistent, full of confidence and looks to move to villa where he will be a first team regular, unlike at liverpool struggling to get games. Hes also played in the champions league and has some experience against some of the best teams in europe. i.e. Juve when liverpool won the CL in 2005. (Robinson - Inconsistent, James - Past it)

Keep Gareth Barry in. (By far englands best player for 4 matches straight. killer passes, great vision, team player, and a great holding midfielder. he just keeps getting better and better - which is what england need. take lampard out, he gives the ball away too easily.

Ashley Young. Boy has this lad got pace and skill. hes young, hes hungry, hes full of confidence. and ive never seen him have a bad game. He is very versatile and can play upfront or alongside the flanks (right or left).

Gabriel Agbonlahor. Same goes for him. Hes scoring ona regular basis now and also keeps getting better and better. Lightning pace and needs to step up his challenge and can take on bigger players.

Now u mite think why name these villa players?

well they are all versatile, all on excellent form and should be given a chance.

The thing is people are always biased and tend to use players from the bigger clubs i.e. when mclaren used carrick - what is he on choosing carrick?

and he loves to pick stuart downing. what the hells happened there? hes had like 2 good games, and comes on in the last 5 mins and is not international level.

There needs to be more of a mix and friendly games like yesterday should be used to experiment new strategies.

I have no doubt now that England will qualify. I was confident that Israel would beat Russia. Russia are poor away from home and Israel are strong at home. Remember Israel scored late goals against Ireland to deny them victory(and effectively qualification) the two times we played in the World Cup 2006 qualifiers. So if anyone knows how the Russians feel, it is us. I hate Israel though.

If the England team was based on current domestic form, it would look like this;

Robert GREEN (West Ham)

Glen JOHNSON (Portsmouth)
Matthew UPSON (West Ham)
Sol CAMPBELL (Porsmouth)
Nicky SHOREY (Reading)

Jermaine JENAS (Tottenham)
Frank LAMPARD (Chelsea)
Steven GERRARD (Liverpool)
Lee BOWYER (West Ham)

Gabriel AGBONLAHOR (Aston Villa)
Ashley YOUNG (Aston Villa)

That team would get ripped to shreds. You can't base everything off domestic form. You have to look at form, talent and experience.

That said, I agree with you about Carson. I do think he's a quality goalkeeper, and should certainly be in the running to replace Robinson.

Spain are through.
Turkey stand a good chance aswel
Portugal...the team who has all the possesion and creates a million chances cant score...they only won 1-0 at home to Armenia.

Yeah Portugal have no strikers..even none coming through bar the average Almeida. Makakula is decent though.

Poland go through and will finish bottom in their group in the major tournaments...again?

^^Yea Poland need to cop on this time and play to their potential in the tournament.

A lot of people say that they dont want England to qualify but its always good to have all the best teams in the tournament. Whether you like it or not England are a bette team than Russia. Still i would laugh if they didnt make it.

Ireland drew 2-2 with Wales yesterday. They conceded yet another late goal. My god they are shit. There is talks of Paul Jewell or Gerard Houllier being the next manager.

The whole concept of the qualifications is to have the best teams of the moment in the tournement.

If I use your guys logic, Urugay is supposed to be present at every tournement because they won the World Cup back in 1930 and 1950...

^^No but England still have good players now. They just dont play a good style of football and dont play as a team a lot of the time. If England beat Croatia on Wednesday then they deserve to qualify. Russia got their chance and blew it like they always do.

The best teams dont always qualify for major tournaments. Are you saying that the likes of Saudi Arabia deserve their place in every World Cup(they did well in 94 admittedly).

I said before that i think that Germany will win it but now i am not as sure. German football is going through a bit of a bad spell at the moment. Both clubs teams and the national side aren't playing well. Germany were poor in the recent games against Ireland and Czech Rep. but they are missing a few players like Ballack. If they play at their best then they can be champions but they will have to play much better than they are at the moment.

Whats the story with the play-offs?
