Democrats Triumph In Midterm Elections

#41
democracy wasn't given a chance at all, it was 3 months of inspections which turned up nothing but some al samud missiles which Hussien agreed to destroy then next thing you know Bush claims he (Saddam) isn't co operating.
Diplomacy clearly wasn't working with Hussein, given that Iraq violated over a dozen weapons related UN Security Council Resolutions. In fact, the Al-Samouds you're referring to were supposed to be disarmed by December 2002 in compliance with a UN Security Council Resolution. So why was Hussein still getting rid of banned weapons in March 2003?

Don't really care about some missiles that have a 150 miles radius, the newest resolution 1331 was it? don't remember the correct number but anyway was suppose to be all about weapons of mass destruction, something the Al Samuds were not. Not saying he wasn't in the wrong for not destroying them prior but alot more progress had been made since the inspectors had returned in 2003 including unlimited access to all palaces etc. places Saddam never allowed to inspect prior to the inspectors being booted out in 1998.

3 months is hardly enough time to make such a decision to say he wasn't complying. Hans Blix repeatedly stated more time was needed to determine if Hussien was truly hiding any WMD's. Bush had his mind made up he was gonna go to war whether or not weapons were found. Now Iraq is a mess on the brink of civil war, yeah great thinking there Mr.President over 150,000 Iraqi's have lost their lives due to your mistake, your right up there with Mr.Hussien.

The UN Resolution (and I've also forgotten the correct number now) was not solely about WMD. The Al Samouds were a violation of the resolution based on their range.

The UN may not have had enough time to find WMDs, but how long were we supposed to wait? Saddam had been violating resolutions for over 10 years. And Iraq, when responding to that resolution in December 2002, still couldn't account for tons of chemical agents that the UN had documented earlier. Iraq didn't even bother to lie about or report the destruction of VX or Ricin, and the UN weapons inspectors already knew of their existence.

Understood, I don't know how long we should have waited thats a tuff question. I do know that this war was ill planned and rushed without thought. The U.S. government knew full well that an occupation of Iraq would be a disaster, recently released documents confirm this. Inspections should a continued for at least 3 to 6 more months as Hans Blix requested. Why the rush to war? Hussien wasn't going anywhere, his military was not in good shape, I don't buy theory that he was moving his chemical weapons to Syria sorry but satellite would have definitely picked up any such movement. I don't know what he did with his unaccounted for WMD's Sarin an Anthrax have a shelf life of 10 years so both of those chemicals didn't have much worth left to them.

All im saying is we were lied to, evidence was fabricated an the war was rushed instead of being well thought out. Now its a quagmire an has brought more instability to an already unstable region.I think in 10 years the current "puppet government" set up by the U.S. will crumble an someone far worse then Saddam, Qusay an Uday will take power. Theres tons of evil dictators on the world Saddam wasn't first an he wont be the last, the only reason i see that we went into Iraq was oil, people question that an say "yeah but oil prices didn't drop any" yeah no shit, not right away give it 10 years the Iraqi government can maintain that long an guess what the U.S. has a steady supply of oil from the worlds number 2 producer of oil. Clinton got his dick sucked an got impeached for lying about it, Bush goes to war over lies an causes the death of 150,000 innocent Iraqi's an whats he get? nothing so far. "stay the course".:fury:
