Over an hour out. During the summertime we usually hit up the beach in Long Branch.

I wonder how much of an issue these masks are gonna be when it starts getting hotter.
It's gonna be a bitch lol. Our clinic has some issues where it's rather warm year-round, no matter if the heating is off or the AC is on. It's a bitch in there but May 1 begins new regulations that employers of essential workers whose job requires them to come in to close contact with people will be required to provide protection to the workers. The staff hates the masks but we'll at least need to keep some of these KN95s around to say we at least provided them. Those are the ones that are really going to you sweat, but they also might still be overkill and the staff will be fine wearing those cheapo, disposable blue ones that are like 50 for $15 or something.

You might as well call up Snow Joe and see if you can go pick them up in person, if it's that urgent.

So I entered my zip code in the virus tracker and it said 721 people were tested and 153 were positive lol. This is about a 5 mile radius. 118 were 50+ so that's nice, I guess. For young folks.

I scored a pair of UB20s for cheap the other day and I'm dying to wear them outside. But I can't. And it's killing me inside lol

They're grays with the violet midsoles. They match the paint on one of our cars and just once I want to flex on someone with them.

lol yeah. The weather is starting to warm up fast now, but I don't know for how long. Chicago weather is weird and we legit don't consider Spring over until mid-June. Because it snows in May or June almost every year, at least once. Even if it's just a few hours of flurries.

But it's 75+ the past few days, so that means we're gonna have a week of storms next week and then another week of 40s before the next cocktease.

About the check, I read some people that have kids and are barely getting by might not got theirs until next year. Didn't read why but that's one demographic that might be fucked.

Masks came in today. They seem legit with the ghetto testing we did at home, which was basically trying to blow out a match with the mask on. It didn't go out and you couldn't feel any air coming out, actually, so at least that works.

The other test I've read is that the legit masks don't burn. Probably not going to try that but I'll take the blow test as reason enough to trust it.

The masks will be good to help you prevent the spread of COVID.

Random thing that happened this past weekend that gave me a chuckle. I was at the dealership for servicing and was with the service advisor that we've known for quite some time. We always shake hands once the work is done and wish each other well, but I had forgotten the times we were living in and held out my hand to shake it before he refused. Instead, he offered the elbow, as in to bump elbows as an alternative. Felt like an idiot for forgetting protocol but then I also realized I haven't shaken a hand in nearly two months. Not a patient or just someone I met.

Yeah the elbow part still makes me chuckle. Some people also bump their feet.

Later on this week, a good number of services and businesses will be opening up, like salons and restaurants with outdoor seating.

I'll still inside or away from others, but I am interested to see if we see another spike in cases and if we have to shut down again.

Sports are starting to solidify plans for starting their seasons or re-starting, but I don't know how long that will last once a player, inevitably, tests positive during the season.

It's strange but I haven't missed sports all that much in the past two months. Right now, we'd be nearing the end of the the NBA and NHL season and baseball would be nearly two months in to the season but I haven't thought about them all that much. The summer is typically a dead time for sports, at least in the US, where the only major sport going is baseball, which is probably the least popular, after hockey.

Maybe I'd feel it more if the NFL or CFB was cancelled this Fall, which is a possibility for CFB since each university has its own requirements in order for their team to play. Like students being allowed on campus to begin with in order for football players to also be on campus and playing games. I think we'll see some schools forfeit their seasons. The only schools that seem to be convinced (by themselves) that they'll be playing in the Fall are schools in the South.

Are you a practicing doctor now?

I have missed sports pretty bad, both playing recreationally and watching.

I was looking forward to going back to the office in the next ~2 months but with all the details coming out surrounding the 24-team play-in for the NHL I'm hoping I don't go back until the Cup has been handed out.

Also, how good is the last dance. I fucking love how competitive MJ is/was. Best quote of the whole thing may be "I don't have a gambling problem, I have a competition problem. It's like saying "I don't have a drinking problem, I have a thirst problem." Love it.

No not as yet and during the outbreak, all official training has been shut down at least for students. I end up at my dad's clinic doing work there, but limited with patients.

I'm still in the early episodes of TLD but I remember reading something either from MJ or the creators of the documentary before it even aired that it was going to "change" people's perspective on MJ from the fairy tale persona they made for him, and it sounds like that was correct. I was really hyped for the doc when it was announced it was being moved up but still ended up not watching it for some reason. I think I just wanted to watch it once it was all released but because there are no sports right now, the doc is all ESPN and local radio ever talked about, and I tune in to both for some amount of time daily. So I ended up getting the doc "spoiled" since I didn't watch it but these sources still analyzed the hell out of each week's episode for an entire week. And I think the beefs we never really knew about before made MJ look a little worse off by the end of it.

He's still an incredible player with an unreal work ethic and desire to win, but he was no saint in his process of getting his teammates motivated or treating his opponents with respect/gamesmanship.
