Me not wanting to be one of these people could some one give there meaning of the following these are ones ive heard but not completey sure what they mean:

im not really sure but let me try to explain..
basically fools cant see the opprtunities given by the moment. they always look for things which might happen in the future but they fail to see they can achieve something right now, or at least make the first step.
a coward will go through his life always being afraid of certain things (death, losing someone, whatever), so "dying a thousand deaths" is a metaphor for each moment he is "scared to death". a soldier on the other hand will only die once, when he finally passes away.
well he says combining both is pretty hard. so its actually safer for yourself being feared because this way the chance something negative will happen to you is smaller than being loved. basically he is talking about the "strength of love".

I interpreted it differently. I didn't read any of Machiavelli's stuff, but I think he's talking about leadership. As a leader of a country or a leader of a group of assassins, for example, it's best for them to fear you and think that you will kill them if they do you wrong, then for them to think you're a nice guy and that you will forgive them and be their friend. People that love you can do damage to you, but people that fear you will rather hesitate.
