HTC Glacier leaks out in GLBenchmark database, boasts really high scores -- Engadget

Remember the HTC Glacier spotted in a database a few months ago? Neither did we, but it's back and eating most every other smartphone's pixel-pushing lunch. Here it is at number four on the GLBenchmark Pro 1.1 charts, where only one variant of Samsung's Galaxy S and a pair of Tegra 2 tablets managed to keep it from claiming the top spot. AlienBabelTech, who found the entry, believes this is evidence the device has one of the new Snapdragon dual-cores, and though we won't speculate that far, a series of coincidences point to a T-Mobile launch (and a bout of logic has us worrying about battery life) if or when it hits our shores.

Mysterious device on VZW's inventory. Rumored to be a mid-range phone to replace the Eris. Well, wtf is the Ally and Devour?

Ally is made by LG
Devour is made by Motorola (and has been end-of-life'd anyway)

Clearly HTC are not stupid enough to ignore the needs of those who want a mid-range device.

Motorola to Launch Android based TV Tablet | TopNews United Kingdom

Motorola is planning to come up with tablet device on the lines of Apple’s iPad. The equipment will be run jointly with the Verizon’s FiOS digital pay-television service.

Talking about the features of the device, its screen will be 10-inch wide. It will be embedded with both front and back cameras to enable video conferencing and capturing videos or any other images. The device would run on Google’s operating system Android. It will be thinner and lighter than the iPad.

The device fitted with Adobe Flash would allow an access to 90% of web videos and facilitates users to watch television on it. It can capture a picture on 480x854 pixels.

Sanjay Jha, Co-CEO of Motorola said, "I think we're very focused in participating in this convergence that's coming between mobility and home, and I think you will actually see some products from us in a very short period of time".

It is likely to be introduced in the U. S. markets in the autumn.

The news is worrisome for Apple, as it is probable that its revenues will be hit due to the launch of Motorola’s tablet and its inclusion of TV on such a gadget makes it stand at an upper edge.

With Google’s Android, which covers a market share of 27% and Verizon’s television services owning 25% of the US television market, Motorola has indeed made a significant move.

The Company has declined to provide any details about the gadget.
This is going to be good!!!

Facebook for Android finally updated | News | TechRadar UK

New Facebook app is out. There was speculation that this was imminent, last week, when Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook CEO)'s profile said that he was now using Facebook for Android.

It's way better than the old version. If you're running CyanogenMod, you may need to uninstall the old version before installing this one.

Also - that HTC Glacier (which may or may not be the same as T-Mobile's 'Project Emerald') appears to be a dual-core device. Yay

It seems all is well in the world of Android. :D

i noticed there was an update for Facebook for Android, but i thought since i installed the Droid version, maybe it was trying to update me back to the G1 android 1.6 version (if that makes any sense). i did try it just to see if it was actually an update to the droid 2.1 version of the app, but after i downloaded it (on several occasions) the installation always failed.

also, casey. when syncing contacts on android using facebook, do you get duplicate contacts?

i have about 100 contacts in my phonebook, but when syncing them to GMail, i have over 300, most of which are duplicates :S :S

also i have silly phone numbers like "000", "12345" that people put in facebook. clutters my phonebook in android.

I know what they are, but what I was saying was aren't those two "mid-range" devices that replace the Eris with slightly better hardware? Verizon seems to think so.

Well, like I said, Devour has been E-O-L'd.

Besides which, it's simple business. HTC wants people to buy HTC phones, not LG or Motorola ones. So they ain't gonna let Verizon get rid of one thing without replacing it with something similar and in the same price range.

are you saying you dont like to have a lock on there? you crazy? anyone can get in and steal or corrupt all your data!

i hate the new lock pattern where i have to tap every dot, i preferred the swipe. < i think theyve changed it to tapping because when people swipe, you can see the pattern on the screen surface with the grease from the fingers, which is a security issue if the phone is stolen.

Man I'm not worried about my phone getting stolen I'm not a chick leaving it around everywhere, it is either in my pocket or in my hand. Basically if it get's stolen i got caught slipping so I deserve to get my shit fucked with lol

Well, people can actually rob you? Maybe it's not that huge of a risk in America though but that's how most people lose their phones here.

I hate the lock pattern too though. It's too frustrating to unlock your phone that way all the time and it's not enough for security anyway. It only grants you some time to change your passwords when you arrive home.

^word up. This guy worried about finger stains and shit.
F you sophie, im just writing about something i read on the android community forum. im not worried about the swipe marks because i still have my screen protector on, therefore you cant see them. plus i was giving the reason for the change in unlock pattern on the G1.

the swipe pattern can only be seen on the screen itself (without the protector). so i suggest next time you try to be clever with those smart ass remarks of yours, that you know the whole story because you make yourself look stupid making silly comments. there's no need.
