I like their specs, price and looks. I also like Sony Ericsson but they don't make good touchscreens. Thing is only Samsung and Sony Ericsson phones can fill my needs - good battery life, small size and good camera.

I used to hate Samsung phones before Galaxy and Spica.

Yep, and it'll be a big seller too. The HTC Hero was one of the most successful phones here last year, and the Legend is the sequel.

What's also interesting is that apparently the HTC Desire has
been picked up by ALL the major carriers here. So T-Mobile, Orange, Vodafone, O2 and 3. Which means that'll sell a shitload, too, cos with all those companies doing their own marketing for it, it'll have a lot of visibility.

Anyway, more good news:

Yeah, some issues with battery life and the camera but I can live with that. The phone is already on sale at play.com but it's expensive as fuck. I need it subsidized with a contract. I'm hoping it arrives here soon, regardless of carrier. Since the plan I'm on isn't under my name, I can switch. Plus, with Sprint being the rumor, I heard they have a $69 unlimited everything plan which is dope. I just hope they don't alter the design and fuck it up. While the Desire is the better phone, the Legend is just too sexy. :)

Tru, that chrome is nice. I'm holding out for something new with a QWERTY though, waiting to hear more info on the Motorola Shadow which is rumored to be the Nexus Two.

I can't live without a QWERTY, although I'm eager to check out the voice input on the 2.1+ VK...

It shows how everyone has different needs. Casey needs a QWERTY, Sofi doesn't care about battery life and camera.
Personally I couldn't survive without a good camera and decent battery life in my phone. I travel a lot and am too lazy to carry a separate camera while a mid-range phone should be enough for nice snapshots. Come on, an average module costs like 10$ to make.
It sucks when I find out that my phone's camera quality is closer to an average webcam than a point&shoot camera.
I also hate charging my phone every 2 days or even worse - when it just dies out when I can't charge it.
I also like small phones as I hate carrying bulky things in my pockets. There's too much to carry already, especially in the summer.
For all these reasons I always hated smartphones.
Too bad that Android is a cool little gadget to have :(

If the rumored specs on the Moto Shadow are true it's a fucking powerhouse. HDMI port with 1080p video recording, 4.3" screen, 8MP camera, Snapdragon processor and most likely it'll launch with Android 2.5 or higher. waannntttt

okay. just to let you know where im at.

ive done the following:

downgraded all the way to the G1 stock rom (1.0)
updated to cupcake 1.5
did the cupcake security update CRC1
rooted using cm rom 3.9.11.2
updated to donut 1.6 using the htc image
updated to latest cm rom 4.2.15

and i keep getting the same messages from the android market again. i thought the problem would have been fixed. this has now happened with cm rom 4.2.14.xx and now 4.2.15.

i hope 4.2.15.1 fixes this. if not, i will have to downgrade to the most recent version of cm rom that does not produce this message. im sick of rebooting my phone so frequently.

^FYL.

Too many ppl I know are starting to have problems with their G1's lately.

I'm not saying it's better, but I've only had 1 problem with them and I found out it was the service.

BALLS.

My G1 froze. I was in the market, downloading updates for some apps, when a system update screen came on and I agreed to update because I was excited it might be 2.1. Anyway, the thing finished, it restarted, and now it's frozen on the screen right after the Android logo.

WTF???

I'ma have to do the hard reset it seems.

How long did it stay frozen? Sometimes it takes a while to reboot after an update. Have you tried pulling the battery and rebooting again?
