Hmmmm, you used the fix_permissions script. Many people swear by it, but personally it completely fucked my phone.

At this point if I were you, I'd forget about saving any apps or data and just completely wipe everything, format the SD, re-partition it and start from scratch.

^ that's exactly what ive done. formatted the fat32 and ext2 partitions. wiped the phone, reflashed htc and cm roms. lost half my contacts, all my messages.

and you're still getting FC's? That wouldn't happen with a clean flash. Something is still wrong somewhere.

Just a little personal survey - If you guys had to choose between the Nexus One or the Xperia X10 ... which would you pick and why?

Over here you get 2 claims a year.
And also when they send you the "new" phone, its usually a refurbished one. Which sucks major balls.

Nexus.

It's the only phone with the dual microphones (one on the back for noise cancellation), it's running stock Android and not a custom third party UI so it get's updated much faster, and most importantly, one of the greatest people in the world of Android, the hacker Cyanogen, has a Nexus and has already released a series of superpowered enhanced ROM's for the N1 - see here: [ROM] CyanogenMod-5 for Nexus One (STABLE) [02/20/2010 / 5.0.3.1] - xda-developers

They're saying that the first gen android phones will not receive flash 10.1 - but may get some form of flash update, even though it won't be in full.

Also they showed that flash 10.1 support does not drain the battery of android phones, which is good. I've got about 10 months left on my contract. Almost at the half way point.

good news for you masta. looks like you made a very good choice afterall.
Yeah, I guess so.

I've not rooted my phone because I'm still wondering if I should sell it to get something else or not. I mean I like it software-wise, the battery life and screen are also good. However I'd like a better camera and a slightly smaller form factor. Also, I expected its GPS to be better so I could use it on the go but there's no good free app for it that could replace a proper GPS device with preloaded maps.
So in the end I have an average, quite bulky phone with wifi and a nice screen with good software.
Also, the 2.1 leak is a beta and many things don't work properly. There's also no multitouch.

I use the GPS on the go all the time. if you have root you can hack it to get the navigation to work also.

Does it really work like a pro GPS device? I mean is turn-by-turn and comes with maps instead of downloading them on the go?
If there was one that would be awesome.

Okay that Android 2.1 really does look AWESOME on a Spica.

Sounds great. Do you have that enabled on your phone, casey?

Haha this little girl on the bus was looking at what I was doing on my phone. She mustve been thinking that its jujst like here phone. When I realised, I looked at the phone she had - the motrola dext (cliq) - she's one of those who have no idea of the potential of her phone. I feel like telling random people i see but they won't understand. None of my business about how others use theirs really, if they're strangers that is.

Good to see a teenager with a phone other than an iphone (especially) or a sony ericsson.

I've never liked motorola phones. But that is changing now, and I'm also taking a real liking to samsung ones.
