i meant the rom on the US version will kill off Google Maps Navigation because the UK/EU rom that is installed doesnt have the navigation features.

So its a decision between multitouch or navaigation for US consumers.

yep, the 1GHz processor. i wonder what speed/clock it will be running, because the acer liquid A1 was a 1GHz, but they notched down the clock speed on that as they did with the G1.

Sandeep, the port of the Milestone ROM is hacked to re-enable the navigation, so it isn't a choice between multitouch or google nav.

You can enable the Nav on the UK G1 as well, I've done it. It's very simple to do.

just getting one thing clear. apple restricts their consumers from having a choice. does jailbreaking allow consumers to surpass that restriction in terms of choices in software available?

last week i had a dream where i purchased an 18-month contract for a blackberry phone. i was like nooo what have i done? i wanted android again. how could i be so foolish? now all my data cannot be synced straight to my phone with the same gmail account.

i like blackberries, but android options come first for me now that ive seen what they can do. other people underestimate the power of open source. either that or they lack the understanding or dont know that they have android as another option.

many people i tell about android have heard it first from me.

p.s. im writing this using a tetherred connection and am loving this feature. it will be useful for me so that i dont go over my sky broadband monthly usage limit of 2GB.

new CYAN is out and it's fast.

The problem with the last ROM has been fixed but Cyan recommends clearing the Dalvik-Cache before installing the new one. It's easy to do, took me 5 minutes and the new ROM is dope.

That price is speculative, but yeah, could be true. We'll find out on January 5th when Google have their press conference.

TBH, for as cool the Nexus looks and as eager as I am to get Android 2.1, I'm still a QWERTY keyboard man. I'd still sooner get a DROID than one of these, even though this is reported to run faster and has higher spec.

I don't understand why HTC don't seem to be making a new Android phone with a similar form factor to the G1, but updated.

The G1 keyboard is still the best keyboard on any Android device to date.

LOL The Nexus One has been rooted and it hasn't even officially been announced yet.

The Android developer community never ceases to amaze me. It's seriously become one of the best reasons to have an Android device, as if there weren't enough good reasons already!

I know I've posted about this before, but once this thing gets an Android 2.1 update.....whatever tablet Apple are planning can suck a fat one. This thing is sexy as fuck.

I wasn't mad about the unsubsidized price, but about the fact that both family plans and individual plans get screwed over if you get the phone. They don't let you keep your plan even if you have a data plan already.

Well, none of the information available so far is official. It's all leaks.

Wait and see what happens on January 5th. I'm sure that what we know so far isn't the whole story.

This shitty thing is there STILL isnt a good data/phone cap/plan in Australia for any Android device.

If I want unlimited internet I have to stick with Blackberry or iPhone. And while I have the BB, the iPhone has the better plan by far with $300 more worth of calls than the BB plans.

Can't you just take the SIM card out of the Blackberry and put it in an phone running Android?

Android overtakes Blackberry in statistics poll of what phone people want to get in the next 6 months.

Just in time for Google to unveil its own Nexus One smartphone, ChangeWave Research reports the public is more excited than ever to buy an Android based handset — at the expense of Apple, Microsoft, and Palm.

ChangeWave surveyed 4,068 consumers in the first weeks of December and found that 21% of people looking to buy a smartphone in the next 90 days want to buy one running on Android. That's up from 6% when ChangeWave asked people in September.

Considering Verizon is spending tens of millions marketing the Droid, this shouldn't come as a shock. Google is a popular brand unto itself, so it makes sense that people are excited about its smartphones.

Apple remains the smartphone of choice for now, with 28% of the people saying they will buy an iPhone. The BlackBerry falls to third place with 18% — but interest in BlackBerry devices actually perked up. Meanwhile, Palm needs big help.
The Nexus One press conference is tomorrow.

I can't help feeling that perhaps Google have something else up their sleeve which might get unveiled tomorrow......
