But no, really, elaborate on what you mean. I'm curious.
I didn't mean it in that context. It's more about other companies following Apple and their strategy which is not really good for a customer and electronics market.
It was always about releasing a product that was technically attractive if it comes to value/money ratio, even great companies aimed to do it because that's what people were after. If people are willing to pay more for the same thing because of some gimmicks that barely cost anything then let's go that way.
You pay for what they call "experience" now, something that is pretty much a virtual, "artificial quality".
A similar thing in the TV market led to creating some virtual values like "dynamic contrast ratio" or "pixel response time (gray to gray)" which are totally fake variables that have absolutely no relation to image quality, yet it's how most TVs are defined these days which is absurd.
The story is, that LG started that because they used inferior panels with worst real life contrast values and their competition was doing much better for a similar price. But LG had their own LCD panel sub-company, their own technology and used only their own panels for their TVs. These panels were inferior to everything else for TV viewing but they wanted to use them for obvious business reasons. So they came up with "dynamic contrast ratio" instead of "real contrast ratio" and people were fooled into thinking that they are actually better. So people thought that it's better because they were told that it was.
When it really worked and people started going for these virtual parameters instead of things that really mattered and bought inferior TV sets every manufacturer went the LG way and had "dynamic contrast" and "response time gtg" instead of really valuable parameters. Now you can't have any idea about how good a TV is because no valuable parameters are there for you to see. You need to read a review, check out the panel type etc.
So you can buy a much inferior device because you were manipulated into thinking that it's in fact better because some artificial parameters were higher.

The thing in common is, that with Apple people not only pay for what they receive but they also pay a huge extra for artificial qualities that were created by Apple that they add to the price of a product. In this case it's "experience", "awesomeness", "coolness". You pay half for the device itself and another half just because Apple convinced you that you should pay.
Now don't get me wrong, I know that there are people who genuinely enjoy using Apple products and I'm fine with it but majority of people weren't genuinely convinced by Apple's real features and pros, they didn't buy a MacOs because they have real experience and comparison to the competition. In many cases they didn't even use them before. However they somehow thought that they're "awesome".
They paid that extra because of marketing, these words and voices that comfort these people that they're so cool and awesome for paying more and using a "super cool and awesome" product and in case of Apple that is the artificial value that people are paying for. And people pay as much as they feel like it's worth to them but it's easy to manipulate them into putting a virtual price tag to things that aren't physically there, "brainwash" them into feeling specific way about that product and translate that feeling into money.
Then other companies will also try to fool consumers that way, when they see that it works and consumers are after it.
And again, I don't mean feelings sparked by positive direct experience with a product, I'm talking about "brainwash". Because there's probably no electronic device that genuinely deserves as much hype as Apple gets/creates about their products.
And yes, I have a problem with these very people, not people who just calmly enjoy their Macs because they really genuinely like the way they work. And I meet a lot of people who were brainwashed into liking Apple - that's where my problem about Apple fanboys lies and that's one of the reasons why I am negative about people who tend to use Apple products.

Seems it's really just a lot of people being judgmental about Apple users. About that comic I posted, it seems everyone that uses a Mac is lumped into the stereotype that they have an elitist mentality and all that jazz.

It's people that have bad experiences with these kinds of Apple fanboys that just adopt the stereotype that all Mac users are like that. They're not. Holding an allegiance to one company for everything is not really a good thing. I have an Android phone, a MacBook Pro, an iPod Touch, and an Xbox 360. Three different companies for the the four most important things in my life (save for family and shit). So I don't hold Apple as the GOAT. But I certainly can say I've had a better experience with my MBP than I have had with the ten or so PCs my family has owned. Including my POS HP laptop that was just an absolute coon.

You can't get mad at a company for having good marketing skills. You can't get mad at a company for "closing off your OS." Marketing is what makes them money and if you don't like the closed OS, then don't buy it.

Like everything in life, "this too shall pass." Android will die and there will be a new "z0mgzzorz this OS is great" company. By die I mean the hype will. Remember everyone wanted a BB? I know most of the people in my high school did. A year later, everyone wanted an iPhone. Now, everyone has to have a "Droid." And that just goes to show how stupid and uneducated some consumers are. That anything running Android is a "Droid." At least here in the States.

A friend of mine got a new phone and I asked him on Facebook what he said. He said, and I quote, "an HTC Droid." So I tried to dig a bit more and asked him what model, since HTC is probably the largest Android manufacturer. Again. "HTC Droid. Look it up." Ok, fuckstick, is it a G1, Aria, Eris, Incredible, EVO, what?

So most people buying these phones are just buying whatever is the newest thing out there right now. They don't give two shits about an open OS. As long as its new. Have you seen the charts for US carriers? AT&T had a better quarter than VZW, most probably because of the iPhone 4. VZW had its worst quarter in a long time. Who knows why?

Not that I'm a know-it-all consumer, but I certainly do my research before I buy, and make sure I'm not buying a bunch of hype. Made some bad decisions, but hey, you learn from them. That's more than what most others with Android phones can say.

So here it is. The Playstation Phone - running Android.

It's hard to believe that what we're looking at is real -- but we assure you, the picture above is in fact the PlayStation Phone you've long been waiting for. As we reported back in August, the device you see is headed into the market soon, likely boasting Android 3.0 (aka Gingerbread), along with a custom Sony Marketplace which will allow you to purchase and download games designed for the new platform. The device snapped up top (and in our gallery below) is sporting a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2, but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches. Looking almost identical to the mockup we hit you with this summer, the handset does indeed have a long touchpad in the center which is apparently multitouch, and you can see in the photos that it's still bearing those familiar PlayStation shoulder buttons. For Sony buffs, you'll be interested to know that there's no Memory Stick slot here, but there is support for microSD cards.

The particular model in these shots is still in prototyping mode. As such, the unit doesn't have a custom skin (not even SE's Timescape design seen on the Xperia devices), and is said to be rather buggy. We're digging into more facts as we speak, but it's likely that much of what we reported earlier is still accurate, and though the device could still be headed for a 2010 release, 2011 is looking much more realistic. Still, there's a lot of time between now and the holidays... so keep your fingers crossed!
Now, you tell me that isn't a major win for Android brand awareness.

Thats stupid to be honest. I like my phone and PSP separate thank you. I dont use my phone for MP3s, I use my iPod, so why would I use my phone for hardcore gaming? Pass.

I can imagine it being succesful. The gamers will get a boner.

Not for me though.

Also.... lol at all the long replies above... I can't be arsed to read them, let alone type them. I'm here to break up my working, not to contribute to it.

iOS's game selection>>> PSP's and Android's combined. How shitty would the battery life be with that thing?

It's a cool concept, but not practical.

I would just like a good app to sync my xbox live information to my phone. There was OpenSpark but it doesn't work anymore thanks to the xbox live recent update.

There was one. I had it and liked it but when I flashed a new ROM, I lost it and never bothered to get it. You could send messages and see who was online and stuff.

But you showed an interest in WP7 having some sort of Xbox Live integration?

Yeah that's what this one did.. but it doesn't work anymore and the developer said he won't be fixing it.

naya, did you get the G2?
No i'm worried that i'll buy it and then 2 weeks later it'll come out in other color options. I'm waiting for a bit. Do you have the G2?

The PlayStation Phone is still real -- Engadget

By now you've seen our photos of the PlayStation Phone, and likely you've also heard the scattered reports of debunkings and cries of "fake!" -- it wouldn't be a scoop without it. Only here's the thing: the PlayStation Phone in the photos we ran last night, and the device reported on back in August is most definitely real. We're not saying that because we want to believe or because we're gingerly trying to nab pageviews: we're saying it because we know it to be true. This is a device which has been confirmed through multiple, trusted sources. And we're not just talking good tipsters -- some of our information comes from people much more closely connected to the project. Even since last night we've received more info about the phone -- learning that its codename is "Zeus," and it was last seen running Android 2.X (not 3.0, which we suspect will be the shipping version). It should be obvious by comparison of our original mockup to the real photos we've just uncovered that the handset we described in August is the same handset now fully revealed. Prior to last night, we had never seen an actual image of the phone. It should also be obvious that the device pictured in those photos is a prototype running early software (which would explain the A / B button mention in the photo above) with hardware that was likely hand-built, or at the very least created in a very small batch.

Also, yes, the Nexus Two is real, may possibly be the same as the Samsung Google Experience device, and is likely to come to Carphone Warehouse as a UK exclusive before it hits waters anywhere else.
