Why is it more of an achievment?. Look at it this way. You play 6 big games against quality opposition every season. Then the rest of the games are against either decent but not great sides or very mediocre teams. In the Champs league you have to play approx 10 games against the very best club teams in the World.Aside from the World Cup and Euro Championships it is the highest honour a pro footballer can win.

Are you going to tell me that it is a bigger achievment to come through a tough qualifying group then it is to win a world cup?

And Ronaldo is probably just saying that to cover up the fact that he never performs in big European games.

And of course there is very little in the premiership outside the top 4 now.Its almost as predictable as Scotland now.same four teams qualify for Champs League every season.

I dunno about you guys, but I agree with Sands. I'm putting myself in the position of a player. You win (or get into the top 3) teams in your league to move onto playing in a tournament with the best clubs in all of Europe. I would feel that winning the CL is the highest honour at the club level.

Now, if you're a mid range to low level club. I would think that winning the EPL or Serie A is the best thing since sliced bread.

Didnt we just mention some players who would rather win the League? so put yourself in the shoes..of a certain player

I'm not in their shoes so I can't comment for them, I'm giving myself as an example, if I was a player that is. The CL feels a lot more prestigious or at least it's made out to be.

As for some of the players that were mentioned...yeah, I won't believe it. One year they say 1 thing, the next year it's a whole other thing.

Thats my 2 cents on it all. It all depends on the person I guess. I've known certain people that felt it's a much bigger accomplishment to win the Euro Cup (cause of the concentration of stronger teams) than the World Cup (You're stuck with Costa Rica or Togo lol)

CL > Prem yes.

But this season I would prefer the Premiership. Seeing as its actually been well fought.

Oh and the World cup is basically The Euros + Brazil/Argentina.

Y'all need to stop arguing about which one United fans would rather win because we're gonna win them both, if not I shall be in hibernation until late August.

Which team (if any) are England fans going to support at this years Euro's? Think I'm gonna support Spain, so similar to England = World Class individual players but never win anything.

Last year the Champions League final was contested between a team third in the Premiership and a team fourth in Serie A. On paper the Champions League might be the most challenging league, but - as with any cup competition - it's not a true test of a team. With a little bit of luck and enough quality to win a handful of games you can get to a final. I don't think anybody would suggest that Portsmouth and Cardiff are the two best teams in England, but they're going to Wembley because of the unpredictability of the cup format.

The Premiership is harder to win, that's why only three teams have won it in the last thirteen years. That's why Liverpool, who are capable of beating big teams but incapable of sustaining their form over the course of a season, week-in week-out - haven't won it for 18 years.

That said, winning the Champions League this year will be a huge achievement, because both teams in the final are challenging for the domestic title. Same goes for Barcelona in 2006.
