08/09 Summer Transfer Window Thread

The League. Especially as its 38 games where you have to be consistant. Its rare the best team wins the actual tournament.
I would have said that at the start of the season, but now we're in the Champions League final I think I'd pick that over the league. I don't think it means as much as a domestic title, but it is something that future generations will look back on as a sign of quality. I'm confident that we'll continue to challenge for the Premier League over the next few seasons, but no matter how much we improve and no matter how well we play, there's no guarantee of another Champions League final.

Plus, it would be heartbreaking for Scholes to finally make a Champions League final and then lose.

Crouch for only 7 million..I would be more likely to ask in the 10-15 mil range considering Bents Price When Brought!!!

Liverpool should be rid of...Riise, Pennant, Voronin, Kewell, Alonso, Hyypia, Finnan, Aurelio..Maybe Alonso..

we should get David Silva..Doubt we could get Villa..But we need somebody to support Torres

Eto'o linked with Spurs. Apparently he has an affinity for the club, but there has to be interest from bigger clubs. The man is prolific.

Giovani dos Santos's dad thinks he'll go to Man. City, as it stands.

LOL. not a single professional footballer would agree with you.
How about the best professional footballer on the planet?

"I think it’s the most important. Of course the Champions League is great – great to win. But if it’s not possible to win both my priority is the Premier League." - Cristiano Ronaldo

"I'd rather win the Premiership but winning the Champions League would be a great achievement and, hopefully, one day I'll pick it up." - Cashley

"It is a cup game and is not a championship. The team who wins that over 38 games is the best team...The Premier League is the hardest competition now. You don't have to win as many games in the Champions League as you do in the championship." - Arsene Wenger

Most fans would agree with them, and they're the people the players should be trying to please. Your boy Torres admitted that most Liverpool fans would rather see them lift the league title than the Champions League.

Are you fucking NUTS?!

I'll start off with Riise. He isn't what he used to be, but he can still provide you with some amazing runs down the left flank. He has has a lot of experience for a 27 year old. He has a 140 km/h shot and is a fighter. I'm just thinking about the autumn of 2006 when he said "We never give up. Cowards give up." After Pepe Reina and Carragher said that they lost the league.

Finnan is an amazing defender. I'm not even going to comment on that.

Alonso... Now this one makes me want to kick you in the balls so hard that you could taste them. He is the reason why Gerrard can play freely upfront. He plays as a central midfielder alongside Mascherano. Javier plays a more defensive role, giving Alonso the time and space to make his passes freeing Gerrard of the role as the playmaker. Thing is that Alonso is one of the best passers in the world and one of the greatest playmakers I've seen in a while. Now fuck you for wanting to trade my fav. player.

Hyypia...What the fuck. At 64 years old, he'll be better than Fabio Aurelio and Arbeola put together at the top of their game. He should stay only for the corner kicks, the headers he gets away from the box, the experience he has. If not that, leave him there so he can teach Skrtel, who will be an amazing player. You don't sell Hyypia.

The only people who should leave Liverpool are Benitez, Gillett and Hicks. Benitez has possibly the 2nd best team in England and he fucks up everything with his coward tactics. Who the fuck keeps the score 1-1 in the Champions League. Fuck him.

All(well 99.9%) of Italian clubs and players are all for winning the Serie A before the CL.

He should. If Rafa stays, no one should ever come to Liverpool.

Ah and Liverpool have to sell back Babel and Torres. They raised credit (40M Euros) to buy both of them and now they don't have the money to pay back the bank. So they have to sell them.

And Gillett and Hicks gave 20M Euros to the coach(I hope it will not be the fat pinguin) for the summer.

Yea Liverpool fans would rather Liverpool win the league but only because we haven't won it in so long and Man Utd have as good as equaled our record. Our 5 European Cup wins are our biggest achievements.

Sorry but Ronaldo hasnt said anything in that quote about the Premiership being greater. If Man Utd win the final this season, i bet it will be the high point of his career so far.

Ashley Cole? Who gives a shit what he thinks. He probably gets a bigger bonus for winning the league. As for Wenger, this man would kill to win one European Cup.

As good as an excuse as any for their mediocrity.
First of all Ronaldo never had to say the Premiership is greater, that wasnt up for debate, it was what they preferred.

Another thing Sere A Players wanted to win the League rather than the Champions League in the 90's also when it was the greatest league without argument.

:)

I read that was bullshit..

United fans would prefer the league title too. I know because I asked them.

"Both are important, but the Premier League is the road the heroes walk"

As for Wenger, this man would kill to win one European Cup.
Of course he would, but he's smart enough to know that winning the domestic league is more of an achievement.
