Yeh Babel could use his pace and skill to give the defence a nightmare 90 minutes. But rather than play in the centre he should play behind Keane, Keane's the more natural goal scorer with his past performances although he still has to make his mark with Liverpool. I didnt know what to think about the Keane transfer, he suited Tottenham because he was a big player for them. Right now he's surrounded by big players and he's finding it hard to adjust. I wish we bought Defoe instead or David Villa. Right now were depending on Torres as the main man to bring in the goals and when he gets injured (like now) it handicaps us. Keane has his chance now to step up and take control and he will prove his transfer if he can.

Babel has a long way to go yet, but I agree it's a nightmare for the defence facing him. He's quick, powerful and will always look you up.

On his skill....well...let's say hes got a long way to go yet. Skill-wise and footballintelligence-wise he's got a lot to learn. But ok, he's still young.

Depending on the system played, though, I'd keep Babel slightly towards the flank to fully utilize his speed. Also, I don't think his close-quarters ball control is good enough to warrant a more central role in the axis of the pitch.

Babel is really skillful. he is probably Liverpool's most skillful player lol. Alonso said that Babel is the most skillful player in the squad. I think Babel's biggest problem is his consistency. When he starts the game, he doesnt seem to be as effective as when he comes on for the last 20 minutes. He needs a run in the team.

Liverpool were interested in Defoe when they signed Bellamy, thats why he would of been a good signing. I think for scoring goals he would of been like a Michael Owen for us, not like for like but he could of filled that role nicely. And yeh Babel is liverpools most skillful player without a doubt. He flicks, chips, dummies, and this is something Liverpool have been without for quite some time. Every team needs a player like that. This is Liverpools. Internationally, yes he has alot more to learn, but he's getting his chance at Liverpool because that type of player was missing. Until he doesnt get his regular games he wont get consistency. Benitez should have him playing every game. Not sure why he has him on the bench soo much. But its just as good knowing he's on the bench ready to be bought on. Wright Phillips is the same, now that he is getting regular 90 mins and his stamina is improving he will play his best football this season. Man City had alot of area's where there was no charge and Midfield was the main one. He's kind of taken that role on and the best thing is, the guy can score goals. He's there version of Gerrard and Ronaldo but not as refined. He can get a little too hasty sometimes and thats because he is still young in temrs of the central role hes trying to fulfill. Gerrard will need more support in the next season or 2, someone who's younger and can make runs from Midfield through to the strikers. Our next signing in midfield should have pace as an essential. He's still quick but only in bursts. And when he moves hes like lightning. He proved in the last 2 England games. Babel should maybe link up more with Gerrard, you dont need Barry.

Regardless of this, Chelsea will win the season. Liverpools main priority should be number 2 spot ahead of Man Utd. This is there first step, and then who knows .. ... .

Yeh if you notice, he always uses his pace as his control. He pushes the ball forward rather than keep it close to his feet and when you can do it succesfully it can throw the opposite teams complete defence structure out of synch. The guys very impressive.

I don't see as much of Babel as I used to (obviously), but in his Ajax days I thought he was sub-par skillwise (keep in mind I am comparing to other top talents of the time). His real weapon imo is his strength, speed and powerful shot.

Football intelligence can be learned.

Babel will never be a close quarter genius, though. But I will admit that when I see him play for the Dutch team, from Pool's summaries and the odd C match, he is certainly improving at the club. He can be a very dangerous opponent and a valuable member of the team.

But to be honest, saying Babel is the most skilled player of Liverpool says more about Liverpool than about Babel ;)

EDIT: Also interesting is what you guys define by "skill" exactly.

^^no there is a difference. By skill i mean by some of the ways he beats defenders and the moves he can do. But his technique isnt brilliant.

Chelsea were great earlier.

Yeah that's a good way of seperating skill and technique.

Then let me rephrase :)

I don't think babel's technique is that great.

Dirkie Kuyt, eh? :)

What about that Zaki guy, though. Two more goals! lol

Fair play to Pool, 2-1 down and come back to win 3-2. they might actually finish in the top 2 this season :) . Rooney was class again today, this is his season.

Liverpool were fortunate.Zaki's second goal was great. Agger made amends for his mistake but i think Skrtel is a big loss. I think the sending off was correct. I dunno what Charlie Nicholas was on about on Sky earllier.

I was at Old Trafford today, Man Utd played average in the first half and good in the second.

Rooney was immense. I love Rafael.
