Acura TL

#1
So I finally sold my truck. I'm now thinking about Acura TL 06 or 07 but my parents are against this. They don't think its the safest and strongest car. Which is why they bought me that truck in the first place for safety reasons.

They look at it this way, ''if you get into an accident, I want you to be safe''. They don't think Japanese cars are safe. So they are saying any of the GMC cars like pontiac or chevy would be a better choice since I'm still young and haven't mastered my driving skills.

So, how safe are Acura TL's? Are my parents right?

What kind of truck did you have? Why do you want an TL? And curious, how old you are?

If you do end up getting a TL, plx don't get the green/gray ish color EVERYONE has..plx.

I sold 98 expedition. I couldn't take it anymore paying $20 of gas every day, so I got rid off.

Honestly, I don't really want TL cause its fast and shit. I've never had a ''fast'' car so I dont know whats it like having one. I want TL because it is economical gas wise, and really because of its interior. I'm in my early 20's.

No, I won't be getting a green car. I don't like gray colors either. Either black with beige/camel interior or same interior in white exterior.

TL's arent that fast. Just cus the car is bigger doesnt mean it will be safer. Tell your parents to go look at crash ratings, most the time chrysler and pontiac and shit like that suck.

I think it's funny that since you're not a good driver they get you an Expedition, shit is so big.

tls run 0-60 in around 5.7-6 seconds flat and hit the quarter in 14.5 to 14.2 at 97-100mph. thats not that far behind a mustang and not bad considering its a fwd family sedan. the slower times are for the 04 regular tl. the type s are the faster times. i love them. my uncle has a 5AT 2008 maroon type s. that thing hauls and is great on gas. and its plenty luxurious

But the S types have 3.5 engine where as regular TL's have 3.2. How is that more fuel economic?

No its not that I'm not a good driver, I've just got into a few minor accidents and my parents say that I haven't mastered my driving skills to drive car like TL yet.

the difference is the spoilers, a bigger engine and a suspension tuned more towards performance. ive driven both and honestly it depends on what you want. if you like firm handling with less body roll and sportier looks go for the type s. if you like a smoother ride go for the base model.

So the type S is like a sporty, all about how fast it goes and shit. Base model is more like a luxurious and smooth. I don't think theres any difference in interior is it?

Like I said before, my main preference is to be economical and its luxurious interior looks and safety as well, is Acura really a safe car I meant to ask you this.

the interior is better on the 07s and 08s. theres no difference between the interiors from my experience (at least on the newer ones). the tl has gotten a 5 star rating for front impact and 4 stars for side impact. drive one, youll like it. the exhaust note is great and they are pretty quick. and its a honda in the heart so its reliable.
