He is, but what a cheap goal so late. Excellent finish, but let's be honest, Aragones played Spain like the old coward he is. Fabregas and Alonso starting on the bench, subbing Iniesta and Xavi early on, lol.

It seemed they were content with a 1-1. That Villa manages to put down a late clincher is one thing, but I saw an obvious lack of winning mentality with Spain today.

Definitely not the future Euro champions, or they'll have to do a lot of things differently for their coming matches.

I kinda feel bad for the Swedes as well, but then again they aren't known for their bravery (as a collective, not to mention mister "i-hope-i-dont-lose" Lagerbäck) on the pitch. Instead of thinking "we can beat Spain tonight" they're thinking "we can hold off Spain tonight".

No Allbäck, Rosenberg, Kallstrom, until it's too late.

Sorry to jump into this 51 pages late but I just want to say Howard Webb is a total fucking moron, you dont make a call like that in added time when the player wasnt even in the action.

Agreed. Beenhakker was right in his anger. Sure, technically, that was a penalty, but we've seen this happen about 10 times in the openings match alone. The holding and grabbing at corners is bog standard, there was no reason to give a penalty at that time in the match.


So basically the only English addition to this Euro Championship still managed to bottle it.

On the whole I think the refs are good, though. Much, much better than 2006.

And not impressed? Where the hell were you when the Dutch put away 7 goals in 2 matches against the two World Cup finalists?

And apart from a few matches, the level has definitely not been shitty imo.

Like I said I havent watched all the matches. But I have been disappointed by a lot of sides. Maybe it is just me.

I was really disappointed by Germany and Italy for example. I dono. I havent been paying the best of attention, which is why Im not really discussing it in here.

But yeah, fuck Webb.

I thought that it was a definite penalty. Lewandowski was pulling the shirt off him. The poles are very angry at the ref but its Lewandowski, some of the other players and their manager (for being so negative) that they should be mad at. This is the third major championships in a row in which they have been awful so its hardly just the ref thats the problem.

I don't even want to comment our team which sucks indeed. Poland-Austria = most boring match of Euro 2008 but it's funny how people hate that referee right now.

Anyway what builds me up it that 1/4 of German team is Polish inculidng 100% Polish Lucas Podolski who is my favorite player of Euro 2008. Funny thing is that Polish team refused to let him play for us. Polish football is a bitch.

The refs don't suck. They're ok. Every match has it's mistakes, the refs as well. And compared to WC2006 they're great. Compared to national leagues and UEFA/CL football they're on the same level, so, no complaints here.

Then again, they should just fucking finally utilize all the technology, lol.

Fuck Greece. I'm happy they didn't get that going their way. It would have been the most undeserved draw in the Tourny so far.

With just a little more finishing, the Russians could have easily ended this 6 - 0.

Best player on the Greek team is their fucking defender, Kyrgiakos. He was the attack and defense. Pathetic.

Switzerland > Austria > Greece.

look the rules state that you cant drag the players jersey and pull him to the grounbd in the box. Thats exactly what he did. He was pulling the jersey off the Austrian and pulled him to the ground in the box.100% penalty There was no need to do it. Lewandowski is a headcase for what he did. Poland didnt deserve to win anyway because they were dire. would like to have seen them do well but they just aren't good enough.
