I dislike a dish that has chicken as the only ingredient. I can't stand the white meat all on its own, ugghhhh!
The taste is so bland. It's so stringy and chewy I would rather live off a diet of bread!
KFC think they have got it covered, by adding spices. But that's just artificial flavouring. There needs to be some 'other' ingredient to make a plate a Dish!
I'm a chef by profession. I don't got any beef with chicken, I like chicken. Only not when it's just on its own, with its own flavour. I cant just cook a dish with just chicken in it, like for example chicken dippers, roast chicken without veg, deep fried shredded chicken that I get at the chinese, poached chicken with no sauce. I need to serve it with an accompaniment, an ingredient that has contrasting flavours, but still adds to the richness of the dish.
If I were to cook a nice chicken dish I would need at least two ingredients to work with. That goes the same for any meal you may think of.
Chicken goes well with mushrooms, sweetcorn, noodles/pasta, rice, cream, white wine, tarragon, sage, and bacon.
All in all, I have never found a chicken dish that goes well on its own inparticular, or with beef.
