Film & TV I just watched Scarface for the first time today.

yeah one of my friends was like wtf you havent seen that movie? thats a must see movie...and now i know why. very good movie....i also noticed one of the scenes in 2Pac's Made Niggaz video was inspired by a scene from scarface...its the part where Pac's arm is broken and he's going into his splint or whatever that's supporting his broken arm to grab a ciggerette..and biggie was like "pac no..please don't kill me"....and pac's like no im not going to kill u (cause biggie thought pac was going to pull out a gun and shoot him)..even if u are a fat phony".....and then biggie (in real life) ends up getting killed....and in the movie scarface...someone else kills that guy (in that scene)...and it wasnt scarface...just like he promised...and in the whole pac situation with biggie...pac didn't kill biggie either (directly).....so in some ways...pac and tony montana are the same.......pac even has a song called the world is mine....and tony's motto is "the world is yours"......coinsidence? i think not.

I remember being awake one night when I was about 5 and I went down stairs to watch tv, they were showing scarface on BBC 2. The chainsaw seen scared me shitless, I remember watchin it many years later, I didn't realise it was the same film at first, then I saw the chainsaw scene again and remember I had scene it before, I enjoy it much more though, watched it millions of times now.

it is a highly over rated movie and i know there are others that share this opinion with me. doesn't even make the top 5 gangster movies, not even top 10. most people only like it because their favorite rappers reference to it so much

I love Scarface but i agree with Puff when he says it's overrated. Dont get me wrong it's a good movie but it comes no where near the first two Godfather movies or movies like Casino, Goodfellas, or Once Upon A Time in America. People just say Scarface its the best gangster movie of all time because everyone else says this. But when you really look at the movie it's just your basic come up in America movie with a shit load of cussing and killing and Al Pacino and his over acting the scenes.

I think people have their favorite movies and Scarface tends to be the movie which is many people's favorite one. It's true that it's not perfect in any field but for some reason is the one that people really like and enjoy watching even xx times.

and right behind scarface is the movie casino...well acctually...i think casino might be better then scarface imo...but these are both awsome movies...i still have yet to see godfather

Hmm well name me 10 better gangster movies? It aint my fav either but to say it aint in the top 10 is drivel. Although it may not make your top 10, in sure the viewing public would not agree.

You say "most people" well most people watched the movie in the mid eighties before rappers were rappin about it. If you mean youngsters only like it cuz of rappers rappin about it, well i dont agree with that either as im sure they like it cuz its a good movie.

i watched GoodFellas. It was ok, not great. Casino was way better. I liked Donnie Brasco more. Scarface is alright.. very long.. but alright.

I thought Carlitos Way was good as well. Not sure if it was better or worse than Scarface but the endings in both movies were extremely unrealistic imo. Carlitos Way has a sadder end to it as well.

The Godfather movies are much better imo.

I never heard of a 2Pac track called The World Is Mine.I know of the Mobb Deep and Nas song called "Its Mine" which uses the theme song from Scarface as the beat.
