i actually really like alcohol come to think of it, people just have a weird way of using it. it's great, but by main concern with it is i have tried both, and found alcohol is the drug that affects me more. it changes my character more. with weed, i have to smoke for a period of a few weeks before there are be noticable changes in my character, and even then you have to really look for them. after having smoked weed for three years it's safe to say weed has changed me, but if all that time i had been drunk instead of high, i can only imagine where i have been today. changes happen to a person no matter what he or she does, so i haven't adopted the "it could have been different" mentality.
the fact that weed is still illegal makes little sense to me, in light of the alcohol laws. i realize if weed was accessible, it would be easier to abuse, but alcohol is already out there and it doesnt drive kids to become alcoholics when they start experimenting does it. in the experimental phase, youth form an opinion about alcohol, and start developing their mentality towards this substance. if, instead of having to go to your awkward friend to get high, you could do it with the guys from your class or whatever, you wouldn't get so hooked maybe. the way it is today, at least here in norway, most people who start smoking pot become loners, because most straight people don't receive them well, and because half of them are unemployed losers who would still fuck up regardless of whether they're stoners or not.
the debate is about alcohol vs. weed, so i felt it was appropriate to address the misconception of pretty much everybody who have never tried week or never smoked it for a while. it does not turn you anti-social, it doesn't suck you into anything. you choose to do whatever you choose to do, and if you're too weak-minded or have too little control over yourself to let weed turn you anti-social, anti-this, anti-that, then that's on you, not weed. to that wood i will respond with something dante once told me. when you smoke weed, as many as a thousand different chemicals are split by your liver. all of them psycho-active. it's not just something i'm saying because i liked weed and dislike alcohol, but trust me, using the word "magic" for alcohol instead of weed is factually wrong lol. there is a lot more "magic" in weed
writing this post at work so i tend to it every 15 minutes, meaning a lot of the shit above may be seamless or whatever, but it's because i felt like i made too many good points to delete it all. as a conclusion, i'll say that i personally prefer the feeling of weed. i like the come-down from weed a lot more. basically there is no come-down compared to alcohol. you feel a little slower and become more easily annoyed. looking at people who abuse weed and people who abuse alcohol, i'd say that weed smokers at least are able to function somewhat. they become sloppy, and may often have trouble being on time or working within a deadline, but they function. an alcoholic can not do anything productive. i'll add that i have a strict policy against getting high while working, i don't do it. me personally, i am a person who socializes with other people, help my friends when they need me, tell them to check theirselves if they need to do so, i work, i pay taxes, i commit to the society i receive benefits from. doing so, i don't see why i should be penalized for doing exactly what humans have been doing for several hundred years, only i do it with a different plant that makes me feel a wee bit woozier. there is no logic to me behind it. the fact is it would be too big of an initiative to legalize weed worldwide. imagine what the various governments around the world would have to do, build coffee shops, get distrubutors to buy from, form governmental organs to control the market. i always have and to this day will continue to believe the reason why weed is illegal isn't because it's bad, it's because legalizing it is too much of a hassle, so instead, we just pretend it's the devil's drug.
i will never look a man in the eye and actually respect him if he is standing with a beer in his hand telling me i shouldn't smoke weed. i'm likely to want to sock a person for less.
