Nah. CD is 16 bit. SACD is 24 bit. I have a tube amp which I use to listen to music. I have a Squeezebox touch through a high end DAC which I use to listen to streamed music. It isn't all in 24 bit though, as it's not widely available. Although it will hopefully be when Neil Young's PONO is up and running. I also have a decent turntable connected in, so I can listen to Vinyl. Vinyl is an analogue format. There is no compression.

How do you hear the difference between 16 and 24? Do you have a premium sound system or those $1000+ headphones that I'll never buy?

The same way you taste the difference between putting three and four olives in a big stew. You don't, unless you eat that same stew every god damn day. Then, you'll notice such subtle differences. You don't need an insane sound system either, you can still "feel" the subtle difference on less expensive setups.

Who puts olives in stews?

I guess some will hear the difference. I've only been paying attention to audio quality for about a year and a half. Only recently have I started caring what bitrate my music is.

I think I'm going to get the Logitech UE6000.

I can't really tell the difference between 16 and 24 bit in the car. But I can between 192k and 256k. At home.... I have gotten used to high quality.. It's like SD and HD. Before you had HD, you thought the picture was good.

Holy shh...I didn't know it was coming back. I know there was talk about it being made into a movie but they couldn't work it out. I see it'll only be 12 episodes this time instead of 24. Can't wait, loved that show. Have to check out The Mindy Project.
