He's an attacking mid, like Riquelme, but with pace, likes his flicks and tricks and can pick a pass. The negative side to his game is that he's inconsistent and can look disinterested if he's been man marked. He's still young though.

I agree though, Argentina are a average side, the back four is weak, the midfield is just holding midfielders.

Argentina legend Diego Maradona has moved to defend star player Lionel Messi in the aftermath of the South American country's disappointing performances at the 2011 Copa America.

Sergio Batista's men currently sit third in the table in Group A with two points from two games after draws against Bolivia and Colombia with Messi unable to replicate his fine Barcelona form for the national side.

Fenerbahce president charged over match-fixing

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) -Aziz Yildirim, the president of Turkish league champion Fenerbahce, was charged in court on Sunday over his involvement in an alleged match-fixing scandal that threatens to strip the club of its title.
Thousands of Fenerbahce fans took to the streets of Istanbul in support of Yildirim and other Fenerbahce officials who were also implicated in the scandal. Yildirim was ordered jailed pending his trial along with 25 other suspects, including two other Fenerbahce executives.

The suspects are accused of manipulating games last season, making Turkey the latest country to be affected by a slew of match-fixing and betting scandals around the globe that has also gripped South Korea and Zimbabwe.
In Turkey, investigators obtained evidence of cheating and bribery involving 19 first- and second-division games, the police said.
Fenerbahce won 16 of 17 league matches in the latter part of the season to come from a distant third place and beat Trabzonspor to a record 18th title on goal difference.

Fenerbahce risks losing its league title in the same manner as Italian club Juventus, which was stripped of its 2005 and 2006 Serie A championships over a similar scandal.
The Turkish Football Federation said it aims to decide on what measures, if any, it will take against the Istanbul club by next Friday; the deadline for notifying UEFA of which teams will play in European competitions. Possible sanctions include stripping the club of its title, relegating it to the second division and barring it from competitions.
The government has promised to be tough on match-fixing, introducing legislation three months ago to confront hooliganism and cheating in football which included a maximum 12-year prison sentence for fixing games.

Football was robbed from people, it doesn't belong to them anymore. Because of that, the Argentinian NT just have supporters. The one who knows about football doesn't go to the stadium anymore, it doesn't have public, just spectators. What's the place of football in a state? It's business, let it be welcome; if it is a business that swallows the times, bad. And we ended up this way. Football is passional educative, a place of expression and the state should watch as long as they are non lucrative entities. But they looked somewhere else while they became limited companies and historical clubs disappeared, they burned them up. Here we had investment groups who sold for 3M euros while they bought by 300,000, the rest was for them. Sport in this country, at organizational level, is a complete disaster, they even created a secretary of sport and tourism, as if you could be tailor and butcher at the same time! It's crazy. Yes, but not here. I see the pitch and I am like the musician who sees a guitar. But not here, not at all. I always found it hard to say that a certain player is the best in the world when you're surrounded by equal great talents. Don't get me wrong, Messi is a beast on the ball no matter what, we've seen it week in and week out, but it takes a special kind of beast to go to another club (in some cases, inferior club) and push them all the way to the top.
