Iraq War is over

Yeah, it's probably over for the US troops being sent back, but that doesn't mean private mercenaries are leaving. If anything the war is just being privatized, but overall - great news for families that have men and women abroad. Too many have died uselessly there (both American and Iraqi)
The State Department is going to keep a huge civilian force there for years to come, plus contractors for training Iraqi soldiers. Nonetheless, it's an important night for all of us who opposed this misbegotten war from the start.

Now the traumatized troops can come home and kill their wives, co-workers, or themselves when something sets them off. Al Queda could only dream of integrating so many time-bombs into US society.

They're the last ones on earth that should be complaining about post traumatic stress. It's not like they were forced to go to war. They signed up voluntarily. Me, i cant see myself sticking my finger into 40 year old men's assholes to check their prostate. So you wont see me become a doctor. If cant stand the heat, stay the fuck away from the desert.

Jokerman is right. Many people coming back are barely human. Most of them aren't compatible with the society anymore and cannot find their place there. They are a threat. Their values are lost, they are mentally unstable and add it to the fact that they weren't okay in the first place since normal people don't sign for military operations like these.
Human life isn't worth much to them after their experiences and brainwashing that made them be there in the first place. And the longer they were there the worse it got.
A terrible case to deal with and I sure wouldn't want to encounter a person "coming home" from Iraq.

You do bring up some good points. However, there are some people who signed up because it was pushed to them as the only option they had to "better" themselves. When I was in public school during HS.. representatives from the Armed Forces would frequently come to our school and push themselves on students.. Saying it was a way for them to make loads of money, pay for college, get out of an impoverished area... etc. I remember complaining about how gross it was to allow the Military into schools to pick recruits and being told that "unlike me most of the kids didn't have a future anyway." That being said.. not all character can be judged based on their decision to join the military. Most people don't know who they are at 18, not enough to turn down the idea of "free college" and "career opportunities".
A friend of mines who falls into above mentioned category was just required to head back over to the middle east.. she was recently in the States for only 6 months after being gone for 4 years before. Her husband and daughter say everytime she comes home it's like she's less of the person she was before she left. It's sad and it's scary. So many young lives ruined.
Here's the thing. Yes, it's an all volunteer army. But, in case you're, I don't know, an idiot or something, you should realize that only George W. Bush--with the help of a compliant congress--asked for war. Are you saying that being in the military is somehow immoral? Yes, a lot of these guys died for a war that was never explained to them--is that their fault? And here I guess you might say:
It's their fault because they joined the military.
Bullshit. The U.S. government has an obligation to put soldiers in harm's way only when it is absolutely necessary. Joining the army is not wrong; actually it's a pretty selfless way to serve, considering the army pay rate and the hazards of the job. After death and disfigurement, the greatest hazard of their very honorable profession is PTSD. These guys didn't ask for it by joining the military. That whole blame-the-soldiers thing was discredited in this country a long time ago, shortly after Vietnam vets arrived home to be spit upon.

What mission? You join the military to serve your country, your country is at war, there's a big chance you're going to the war zone. You know that's what you're signing up for. In your earlier post you implied that brainwashing made them be there in the first place. Nobody needed to be brainwashed. 9/11 was all the brainwashing a lot of young people needed. Being someone without other avenues in sight, job or college, is all the brainwashing a young person needs to consider joining the military.

Here we have professional army now and to go on any mission abroad you have to agree to go there first, even if you're paid to "protect your country" in the first place. You "sign a deal" to go to Afghanistan, Iraq or wherever else our soldiers are going.
But we're not officially at war with them so I guess this explains the difference.
If it comes to that "brainwashing" part I said that it plays a part, not that it's the main factor. Soldiers are being brainwashed before and during operations like these. Otherwise many more would freak out and run from the battlefield.
