Been a lot lately in CA. Just some 3.0's. Never even felt them.

But Japan got hit with a 7.0 yesterday according to my friend who is stationed over there. She's okay though.

But today, Chile got hit with an 8.8. Biggest to ever be recorded. Over 120 dead.

Tsunami has been issued to Hawaii.

Yeah, I heard. 8.8 is insane. Imagine if that hit Haiti which has no earthquake resistant infrastructure (not that it would help much against an 8.8 quake). The country would be permanently fucked.

The one that caused the Tsunami was around 9.0 - 9.1 ... The largest ever was in the 1960s, also Chili lol... It hit 9.5 ... it was so strong that it erupted a volcano LOL.

i saw comments on facebook regarding the earthquake in chili and then opened the tv and heard the news. it's crazy.

now there's a tsunami alert for most countries who are on the pacific sea.

^What do you mean there's no chance of that happening? <--- For Bobby.

wow 8.8.

what was the strength of the earthquake that caused the Tsunami in Asia? wasnt it 8 or something?
The one in the Indian Ocean was 9.1, it displaced the water coloumn by ~15m, that is just fucked.

Yeah, what most people don't realize is that going from one number on to another on the Richter Scale, say 7 to 8 corresponds to an entire order of magnitude difference, i.e. this earthquake was almost 1000 times more powerful than the one in Haiti. If Haiti was hit by this earthquake the island would've likely been split in half, literally.

Fuck, that would be something ^

I'm still thinking about the earthquake that started a volcano. lmao. Imagine the dude yelling: "ITS AN EARTHQUAKE!!!" ... then he looks away into the distance and sees a volcano erupt: "ITS ALSO A FUCKING VOLCANO!!!"

Bricks were shat.

^thank god we don't have these issues here. i would hate to live in some place where earthquakes are a regular thing. it would scare the shit out of me.

The Netherlands:

No volcanoes, no earthquakes, no tsunami's, no hurricanes, no tornadoes, no forest fires or any other natural disasters.

No poisonous snakes, spiders or fish. No tigers, no lions, hippo's, elephants or any type of scary animal.

^^Ireland is the same although the north of the country get small tremors every now and again because a fault line runs close to very north of the country.

we are pretty when you think about it although we did get some bad flooding and frost this winter in parts of the country

that sounds awesome.

how hot is your summer? and how long does it last for?

I always wonder whether we think there are more natural disaster's because the media report more of them (especially after something big ie Tsunami). I'm sure theres a spot on Earth somewhere that gets Earthquakes but nobody is around to feel them.

Fuck 2012.

The only reason we think natural disasters occurr more frequently is because the world is much more populated than it was even just 50 years ago.
