Can anyone tell me why my IP has changed??

I noticed something was different when links that insert your hometown from your IP, started saying New York instead of where I really am.

or your isp has proxied your connection temporarily

When ISP's do this, do they usually only do it temporarily? Because I noticed a few days ago that I am no longer able to use rapidshare, you know loads of people have that problem with it with shared proxies etc. It never happened before, and I haven't changed anything with my connection.

what do you mean:

a proxy is basically a server sitting in the middle of you and the server you want to connect to.

YOU ---------> PROXY --------> SERVER

everytime you go to a webpage or connect to a server,the request is first sent to an intermediary server,known as a proxy. Thats why your IP address doesnt show as from where you live,but shows NY instead.The NY IP is the proxy's IP.

This might be temporary though,like i said,call your ISP and ask them
