I did one of these waaaay back, and Pennypacker's thread reminded me of it, so I figured I'd do another. Pennypacker's thread was about Americans, so this is aimed at the Yanks*, but any Johnny Foreigner* can answer. All the questions are things I know the equivalent of in the States. Please don't cheat. Getting questions wrong makes you an idiot*. Cheating makes you a dishonest idiot*.

Great Britain is England, Wales and Scotland, essentially the island itself. The United Kingdom is the above three plus Northern Island. Nobody cares about all the little islands. :D

Blue backround and a red plus sign.
You missed out a few features:

A blue background with a white cross and white saltire (diagonal cross, from the Scottish flag) with a red cross (St. George's cross) and red saltire (St. Patrick's Cross) overlaid.

Football is easily the most popular, rugby and cricket were the other two I had in mind. Cricket is really a summer sport, rugby a winter sport.

Fries differ from chips, and 'cigarettes' is probably as if not more common that 'fags'.

Oh, and we're 'metric' as well.

Contrary to popular belief, the Isle of Man isn't part of the UK. We tend to look after it, though. It's only little.

Dublin is the capital of the Republic of Ireland, Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland.[/QUOTE]

This is all cobbled together from years of posting at EWB...Illuminattile knows what i'm talking about! :P

Shouldn't we refer to our currency as pound sterling? I always thought the sterling part was important to help - foreigners mainly - distinguish between the currency & the weight - even though they are invariably linked.

Emma, Churchill in the Great War?!! Yep, you're failing.

Scotland's capital is Edinburgh despite many feeling that Glasgow is the true representation of the country.

And Illuminatille, seeing as you declined to mention it along with the other names - through laziness, memory lapse or for whatever reason - the Scottish flag you refer to as being represented in the Union Jack is the St. Andrews. We also use the Lion Rampant - the yellow one lol.

The other islands that makes up the UK are the Channel Islands & the Isle of Man.

And besides God Save The Queen not bing official, you'll find quite a sizeable slice of Scotland who are adverse to singing it - discarded verse or not.

:D I was saved todayin my exam, I got the second paper which was on Suffrage, which I'm good at ;)
I'm fucked next year tho lol :thumb:

The capital is bound to be Amsterdam.
It's in Europe.
Currency is the Euro, I hope.
Football is probably the most popular sport.

That's all I know about Holland.
