apple is fucking overpriced and unless you are studying graphics, movies, or any other things related to those two, it's not really needed.

mne too i'm looking for a laptop. i've been thinking of that lately. but i don't have enough knowledge to choose a laptop without feeling i could make a mistake.

i dont have a price range. i'm willing to pay the price for a decent computer that will last me more than a year. i think i could go up to 2000 for a laptop. i dont know if that is expensive or not for a laptop cause again i have no idea of what prices are for laptops.

Yeah, the price for the black macbook 13" hasn't gone down a single dollar in like 18 months. It's 1500 now, but I can get 200 off cause I'm a student. Still, though..that's 1300 without tax.

Carmi, im pretty sure 2000$ is enough for a laptop you need/want. Even 1500$ should be enough.

thats what i thought. i'll have to go shopping soon. but i have time to find a laptop. still got my home computer, i'll only need my laptop when i'll be moving out next spring. so i got lotsa time to get the money and get the laptop.

RAM isn't space Carmi you're thinking about hard drive space....

The reason I'd want 1 gig of ram is because I'd probably install programs like Photoshop which no matter if its Linux or Windows or fucken MS Dos, 256 isn't good enough.

You mean GIMP, that is what is used on Linux, there is no need for windows based software, Linux software is FREE (pretty much). You obviously have no knowledge of Linux.
