BoxOfficeMojo.com and ComingSoon.net are both reporting that Transformers 2 is currently scheduled for a June 26th, 2009 release date. I highly doubt that date is set in stone, especially with the news that the G.I.Joe movie is also scheduled for a 2009 date. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

they had the release date for iron man before it started production. it isn't that uncommon. usually it is just a projected date, but i could see it happening by summer of 2009

see, this is what bothers me about movies these days. rather than take their time and craft a worthy, good sequel, they're just gonna grab any piece of shit script and go to work on it right away. it's not as though the first movie blew me away anyway, so i was hoping for the sequel to be better. my hopes for that have dropped greatly now.

well, if it'd been a different kind of movie i'd agree with you.

lord of the rings, all three movies were shot subsequently, shit, shooting the movies made the shoots bleed into each other, and regardless of how you feel about the book and so and so, you can't say those movies weren't pretty good movies compared to other movies and what they are based upon and how they were put together.

i actually have great hopes for the second one. i had pretty high hopes for the first one, although as a cinematic movie, and it delivered. it's nowhere near my top 30 list, but a movie doesn't have to be on that list to be one hell of a movie to watch in cinemas. transformers was great to me, even WITH the corny speech and what not (that, if you didn't like, you can burn in hell for thinking ill of. this series is based on a cartoon, not a real life tale).

umm, well i'm not sure what you're trying to say here preach. the LOTR flicks were definitely good movies, but there's a big difference between filming one massive movie and breaking it up into 3 parts (which is what they did with the Rings trilogy, they filmed it all at one time), and having a hit movie, then rushing to get a script so they can put a sequel out in order to capitalize on the popularity of the first one. if they took their time and didn't rush these things, sequels would probably be a lot better than what we are getting from Hollywood these days. of course we all know that most of the time sequels are inferior to the original, but they become even worse when studios rush out garbage to try to capitalize on a possible franchise.

well this much i can agree with.

i'm just saying, so long as they sort of take elements from the animated series they don't have to come up with a great script, the story is already there. they just need to piece it together and make the actual movie.

i never really watched the animated series a whole lot though so i'm not sure how the movie is compared to the series, but oh well. i agree with you though, i dunno, i just.. i wanted to argue a little bit damnit :(

well the movie isn't really all that close to the animated series at all. they have some elements, but most of the plot of the movie was created, and not based on the show. and just because it's a movie based on a cartoon doesn't mean they have to make it suck. i don't expect an Oscar-caliber script or anything, but i don't think they should just throw any old crap out there just to capitalize on the success of the first movie. i mean look at the Spider-Man franchise. after the success of the first movie, they didn't rush out and do a sequel right away. they took their time, thought out a good plot, and the second movie turned out to be much better than the first imo. the third faltered a little bit, but it was still a quality story because they took their time and didn't rush the movie out.

i guess a lot of this is just speculation, it may turn out to be good, but chances are if it's coming out that soon, it's going to be rushed, and it won't be all that great.

PS: hey you know me, i'm always up for an argument lol :)
