What do people (who have listened to their shit) think of them? I really like the beats, but I can't get into Mike Skinner's flow.

i love him... mainly the lyrics which i can relate to.... but i can never listen to the CD more than twice in a row as it doesnt keep me listning...... but he's good.

The Streets are very hard to translate across the Atlantic. He is very English and speaks about subjects that English people will relate to a whole lot more.
Personally I think he's beats are basic and his skills average. but he's gone in a new direction with his music, and can tell a very good story. Which are his strengths.

I don't mind the English accent & the beats are pretty nice, but his flow is repetitive that kinda of start-stop shit & his rhymes are very poor.

He speaks about very ordinary things in simple terms which is fine, but when your flow is terrible & your rhyming leaves much to be desired, I ain't feeling you....

He doesn't just talk about that.
He talks about english "yooof". It's different to the gun culture that is present in all US rap and most of UK rap too.
I think he changed UK hip-hop, it's still poor but getting better. More money is being invested now by the bigger record labels. Videos are getting better and the records are starting to get on MTV. People like Mike Skinner more than the "garage" acts are helping to get this investment. He is also has complete control of the music and the words, other acts usually come with a crew.
It's true he'll never be mentioned in the same breath as Rakim, or any half decent US MC, but you're completely overlooking what he has contributed.
