Second Life is a virtual world in which inhabitants have the power to enter an endless array of landscapes and participate in various different societies. Even in light of the obvious comparisons to The Sims (similar avatars and 3-D graphics) many people don't consider Second Life a game but an animated version of real life. I only signed up last night but would be more inclined to label it as a sort of cyberpunk literary movement / metaland Matrix.

Here are some useful links for those wishing to know more:

I'm intrigued to know if anyone is a resident of Second Life. My avatar is majorly amateurish so any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If you have no advice to give, suggest a time you can take me on a tour of your favourite destination or something.

I'm bored.

Here are some screenshots I've whored from an SL property site:

Upon my initial arrival I was taken aback by the pragmatism of the software. Whilst I can understand why some 'residents' regard Second Life as the most authentic computerised alternative to a real world, during the course of my four hour stint, I encountered everything from 8ft leopards to pornstars begging for gangbangs. This is not a normal day for me.

Eventually, I stumbled into an old Japanese lady who taught me how to teleport whilst answering all my questions about the history of different locations.

This morning I thought my housemate had spiked my coffee.

i actually have an account but i have never used it. the main computer i use wont run the program for some reason. i dont want to download it on my laptop because im affraid it will slow down my workstation. it's kind of cool actually. if there was ever a myspace killer this would be it.

Yeh, they were talking about this on the radio, you can apparently make real life money on it?

Anyways, looks interesting.
