I don't remember seeing this posted and now that they've gotten 100 preorders, I thought I'd see what kind of comments I could get. Is this a turning point for EV's? Will this fail? The size is my number one concern (smaller than the Mazda Miata by a hair) but some reports indicate that there are enough leg room. Your thoughts please.

- 135 mpg equivalent (EPA)

- 250 miles per charge (400 km)

- full charge in under 4 hours

- regenerative braking

- the batteries in the Tesla Roadster will give you more than 100,000 miles of peak performance driving

Ok, now that I got you excited, I'll shit on your hopes by telling you that this baby costs $100,000. Although, it could be a good investment. According to Wired, Tesla is working on a $50,000 sedan due out in 2008.

What do you think?
 
Still a tad too impractical (4 hour recharge sounds like a bitch :) ), but we're definitely getting there.

On the other hand, it must be a tad boring to drive if you're used to internal combustion energy.
