Teacher jailed for sex with students
A 35-year-old teacher convicted of having sex with two teenage students has been jailed for six years by a District Court judge in Adelaide.
Kym William Slater of Craigmore pleaded guilty to one count of indecent assault and five counts of unlawful sexual intercourse whilst a teacher at Glossop High School.
His two victims were girls aged 16 and 17.
Judge David Bright said Slater had an established career as a physical education teacher and was well regarded, but a marriage breakdown brought on depression and he allowed himself to do something he knew was wrong.
Judge Bright said the courts would not tolerate teachers abusing the trust placed in them.
He set a non-parole period of three-and-a-half years.
