Hey, just found out about this at work and thought I'd spread the news. We've heard nothing but sad news as of late as far as Hurrican Katrina goes, so here's something that isn't so sad.
A special account has been set up for customers and employees to donate money to the Red Cross' Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Donations can be made at any Bank One or Chase branch.
A new "Donate to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort" link has also been added to BankOne.com so customers can contribute funds online. Once customers click the link, they'll be taken to a page with information about the bank's support of the Red Cross' disaster relief efforts. Customers should click the "donate now" link to make a donation.
The bank will donate $1 million to the Red Cross hurricane relief effort, and will match all donations up to another $1 million, for a potential total of $3 million.
In addition to the $1 million the bank is donating, we also have over $400,000 in donations already from employees as well as customers and the bank is matchin that amount dollar for dollar.
